by the way, i added the VM as destination 1 for all call types (CO, Internal, etc...) / No Answer in the System Call Forward 1, and it cut the ring time down to 8 rings.
*confused*

Try doing a #6051,#6052 and #6053 each at a time to remove any call forwarding you may have set. Then do the #6011 to 113.

Have you tried this same thing using two different phones? And are the results the same? Try checking your IEs system parameters "sys_rings_no_answer" default is 3. And check the "sys_cancel_busy_hold" And check your Configuration Properties of the "Telephone System Intergration" making sure of your "Intergration Patterns" Also if your looking for call coverage why not use a MCG?

Make sure that your eManager or CTX/CIX WinAdmin is up to date, there may be a version mismatch.
Also, what do the other extensions do, meaning do you have this working on other people's phones? Have you tried testing this on another set of extensions to see what happens?

phonemeister - tried that, didn't seem to make a difference. telephonyman - the sys_* system parameters are all at default. i just tried it with a phone on fri and it did do the same thing. i looked at the integration patterns, but honestly don't know enough about them to feel comfortable changing it. as for an MCG, i'm trying to do the opposite... forward a DN to another DN. iowaphones - it appears to work the same way on any phone or extension that i try it on. my not-so-elegant solution: i'm going to change 123 to a phDN and place it on 113 for the time being. i created a SCF specifically for my phone but that didn't change anything either. it's weird... it's like it's ringing 4 rings per extension tried, but it just rings them all at the destination. thanks for the suggestions! i'm going to set up the ext as a phDN for now, but if anyone has any other tricks, i'm all ears.

If you are using manual CFWD, set system CF to 0 for that station. I have seen the two conflict.

voyager - thanks, but i tried that too (CFA w/no SCF and SCF w/no CFA). same either way.
my (admittedly only slightly knowledgable) opinion is that something is not handling for fwd correctly, since it rings regardless of 113's on/off-hook state.

WOAH. ok, riddle me this: i took the "h" *off* of the extension listing in the stratagy admin, and now... it still rings 8 times (on-hook), but will correctly divert straight to vm if i'm off-hook.
what possible pitfalls should i watch out for by doing this with fwded extensions?

Supervised transfer vs. blind transfer. Supervised transfer will tie up the voice mail port the entire time of it answering, transfering, ringing the extension for xx seconds, and then pulling the call back to the mailbox and leaving a message. If your voice mail system is being used as an auto attendant or receives a lot of use, then you would need to consider adding additional vmail ports.

you can add number of secs before transfer to your VMID by pressing #657 <DN or 92 if using Strategy> <Speed dial> number of seconds <redial>. Default is 30 secs if you skip the speed dial part and enter nothing. minimum is 12 secs.
