Does anyone know how to get wav file attachments to play on Blackberry's. I am asking because most unified messaging products attach a voice mail message as a wav file to an email. How do you play it from a Blackberry?

I'm not sure it can be done... at least as an attachment anyway... I couldn't play a MIDI file (used as ring-tones) attached to an email.

Check this out, if anyone knows, they will. -

Get a newer blackberry.

I did find a product a while back. It cost ~$20 for each blackberry. Try 'blackberry wav player' in google.

What model Blackberry do you have? I was able to update the firmware on the 8700c's my company has so it would play messages.

Most of the newer Blackberry's are able to play the WAV files.

I have a BB 8830 and tried that very same thing a while ago but could not get it to play. It can play a .wav file but not one sent as an attachment to an email. Gave up trying. I think meisgq is on the right path, I did read once that there is some third party software that will allow for this but its really not that critical for me to be able to play these so Im not gonna pay for something that may or may not work.

Hi All,

I found the answer. Blackberry needs to running 4.2 software. I upgraded software and it works great. Thanks

Jim

Hey Jim, can you tell me what the audio format is on the .wav file that you are playing on your BB?

Nevermind, my voicemail was sending the .wav file out in ADPCM format, I changed it so that is would send in CCITT u-Law format and they play just fine on my BB.
