Our new voicemail is working great with our Toshiba DK40i, but we've discovered our current ring arrangements could be better.

We have the VM port in prog #82 so it answers after a 12 second delay. Most of the time that is okay because we try to answer our phones by the 3rd ring. Sometimes we don't make it and we pick up at the same time as the VM. That's really annoying.

I could move the VM to prog 83 for a 24 second delay. That would be a little long, but accepatable during our open hours. It's not acceptable for our closed hours. So, I'm looking for programming options.

Ideally, we would like a 6 ring delay during office hours. (That's about 18 seconds... I don't think it can be programmed that way... uncertain?)

After office hours the 3-ring, 12 second pickup is fine.

I really don't want to have to press a night transfer button. I want the switch to be automatic.

We're open 8AM to 5PM M-F and closed 5:01PM to 7:59AM and closed Sat/Sun.

At bottom, what I'm asking is: how can I program an automatic day/night/weekend mode change for the voicemail ports?

I've been reading the programs for day/night modes, but it is very convoluted.

Thanks,
jw

Sorry, you're out of luck. Why would you not want a night button? Push it once at 5pm and again at 8am. Can't be easier than that.

If it was my business, I would put a night button on the receptionist's phone and set the VM to delay 24 sec in day mode (prog 83) and VM to immediate in night mode (prog 87).

There is another advantage to having a night button. If you're having a company meeting during the day (or any other reason) you have the ability to put the system in night mode and have the auto attendant answer any time you like.

Or, you can upgrade to the CTX product and program the automatic day/night schedule. ITs a good feature except on holiday weekends when you are closed on Monday. You will be making a trip into the office to put the system in night mode for the day.

You have a Datalabs voicemail. If you want info on that, call Datalabs and get them to help you.

There is NO Toshiba program on the 424 for time of day voicemail ringing. NONE!

I have never heard of a Datalabs voicemail, this is the Toshiba forum and we helped you a lot getting it all working. If you need help with an off brand voicemail you should contact the manufacturer as we can give you advice on Toshiba voicemail but not on every voicemail ever made.

As Voyager so nicely explained to you, put the night transfer button (439) on Ext. 200 until Datalabs walks you through the day by day hours setting.

Immediate ring (prog 87) for nite time, (prog. 83) for 24 second delay in the day time.

I hope you find someone at Datalabs to help you. You may need a laptop or not, this is one I never knew existed and not a part of the Toshiba forum.

Good luck with Datalabs, Bunnie

Thanks everyone. The VM is a DataLabs unit. The VM knows what time it is and can change greetings, etc... but it only has one setting for ring pickup and we really want that to stay at 0 or 1. That's why I want the PBX to determine/control when the VM gets a ring.

Unfortunately, it appears the DK40i isn't going to give me any options beyond the night mode button. I'll have to think about that. The problem will be remembering to press it. Our office hours are mostly stable, but we don't always have the same people here at the same time and the receptionist does not arrive first. An automatic solution would be best, but that does not look possible.

Thanks!

I've decided just to put it on 24 second delay and leave it. That works well for office hours. It's a little long for after hours, but it's acceptable.

Thanks!

You could use an RPCI with the Ultimate Communicator which will allow you to automate the night transfer. Not a cheap solution but it works well.
