Is there any free software out there that I could use to setup a PBX on a computer? I've seen these for VOIP, but what about analog lines? Do these exist?

You need to send a PM to Kumba after doing some research about an open source PC/PBX called Asterisk.

I've heard of asterisk, but will that work with analog phones?

It handles analog just fine. Consider posting specific questions about Asterisk here or over here .

Remember, it's free as in speech and beer smile

Yes, it will handle analog lines. And yes, Dagwood was right, you will need to do some extensive research and learning in it before you can just jump into the fray. And no, just installing it wont help you make it do ANYTHING.

I suggest you get a book from O'Reilly called "Asterisk: The Future of Telephony" and read it. It is a good primer and what most people read when they get into this software.

Asterisk: The Future of Telephony 2nd Edition (ISBN 0-596-51048-9)
--- Order yours at https://www.oreilly.com/catalog/9780596510480/
--- Free downloadable PDF https://downloads.oreilly.com/books/9780596510480.pdf

Little bit of interesting trivia. The first edition of this book was made free to the public under the Creative Commons License. This means anyone could download the book for free on the web, and buying it was all up in the air. This book was the highest selling book O'Reilly has ever sold, and that doesn't include the countless millions that were downloaded.

You've got to learn command-line Linux and Asterisk at the same time. Good Luck!

We've had our kit here for 6 months with no real results - not actively working on it.
