That's my preferred way of doing it also, but most customers don't want or have room for that kind of batteries. Most of the backups we sell are the all-in-one units that can be screwed to the backboard up out of the way.

My customers never did see beyond the cost of these batteries until a power failure hits them.

For a very little cost (about less than 40 cents), you can buy the connectors yourself and solder them to a good cable.

Personally, I hate those heavy batteries and let my technicians carry them instead.

IT ADMIN,
I can see the cost savings of building your own UPS system but...... why not buy an ONEAC UPS system that comes with a warranty and power conditioning/surge/brownout protection? Am I missing something here? We have a huge generator that will kick on in the event of a power failure so I dont need a days worth of UPS BUT I would still want the other things that come with a commercial UPS system. What do you all think?

Perhaps we could stop dredging up old and long-resolved posts from March?
Thank you,
Paul

"No!" she said pouting loudly with her puffed cheeks and pursed lips.

Just to answer Dano, the batteries will power the system much, much longer because the 24 VDC from the batteries is exactly what you get when you use batteries innefficently to make 110 AC that is then made into 24 VDC innefficently.

OK Paul, now we can be done. Grrinnns
