Hello guys,

I am newly appointed in-house person to maintain the Toshiba DK280 system in our church. I am not an expert in programming so please bear with me.

We have DK280 system (lets say MAIN system) with rctuc/d ver. 3 that is integrated with Stratagy 6 Lite voice mail system (using tty port, smdi). Everything works fine on this system.

We have another DK280 system with rctua/b ver. 3 that is kept as a backup (lets say BACKUP system) to support limited ports in case of any major failure in the MAIN system.

I am trying the make Stratagy 6 Lite to work with BACKUP system. On the MAIN system there is an intercom number ‘800’ main voice mail number (with no physical phone) that automatically forwards the call to first available VM port. For example when I dial 800 on intercom I could see forwarded to 6111 on the display. I need to do the same setting on the BACKUP system. There are other greetings associated with 810, 811 etc that also forward the calls to one VM port and plays different greetings. On the backup system when I dial 6111 I can listen the greeting and I can go other mailboxes by entering the mailbox numbers while greeting is being played. But I can’t make intercom number ‘800’ to automatically go to 6111.

MAIN System:
VM Port# Station#
104 6111
105 6112
106 6113
107 6114

BACKUP System:
VM Port# Station#
072 6111
073 6112
074 6113
075 6114

BACKUP system has following settings:

Program 10-2: LEDs 02,03,06,11,14,15,16 are ON. Rest off. I used the similar setup as on MAIN.

Program 10-3: LEDs 09,10,11,12,14 ON. Rest off.

Program 13: Port Number of Message Center 072

Program 31: 072*075 have VM Group 1 (only group). LEDs 05 and 09 to 20 ON. Rest off.

Program *32: All the ports 000-071 have VM Port 072

Program *04: Prior to setting this program I was not able to dial 800, 811, 812 etc. on the intercom so I created using this program. Not sure if this was right thing to do as I am able to understand it. I found the similar on the MAIN system:
Port# #
500 811
….
550 800
….
900 500
…

Program 33:
072 -> 073
073 -> 074
074-> 075
075->072

Note: Program *40 works on the Main system, but not on the BACKUP system as I can’t enter DH group 900-915. I read somewhere that *40 is not necessary if program 33 is set.

So the main question:
1. How to assign an intercom number 800 (or main VM number) to automatically forward to VM port?

2. How to let other greeting mailboxes 811, 812, 813 etc. go to VM port? Do I need to set Program *04 to recognize 811,812 etc so it not treated as an invalid extension?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Update: It seems on the BACKUP system extension 500 is setup by default that forwards the call to 6111 (VM station). On the main system it was 800. Is it possible to change 500 to 800? Another question that I mentioned earlier how to program the system so that it recognizes the company greeting mailboxes, for example if I dial Intercom 811 it should play the greeting stored in 811. At the moment after dialing Intercom 500 when I dial 811, then I get the 811 mailbox greeting not when I directly dial 811.

Thanks.

Try program *04 and change 500 to 800.

Try changing PhDN 511 to 811 in program *04, place ##511 on a button on someone's phone using program 39, make that phone the owner in program *33, then call forward that PhDN using #601 to 6111.

Not correct!
If you have distributed hunt set up on the "Main" system (*40) then the system will operate differently if that program is not available on the "Backup" system especially with SMDI integration. There were different versions of the 3.x software (3.0, 3.1, 3.2) and it makes a huge difference. Follow Phonemeisters instrustions he has allowed for the differences.

Thanks a lot guys. I made some progress based on your instructions.

I could change 500 to 800 using *04 without any problem.

For other issue I tried two ways:
One that Phonemeisters suggested (changing PhDN 511 to 811 and using programs *04, 39, 33, #601), it worked great. When I dial intercom 811 it goes to voicemail (6111).

Second way I tried by assigning mailbox numbers 811, 812 etc to 900-915 dh ports using *04. When I dial intercom 811,812 etc it automatically goes to voicemail (6111).

Though in both cases I hear the message at the root level (company greeting) not the message assigned to mailbox 811 or 812. I tried running #656 using similar approach that Phonemeisters suggested but no luck. I think I am missing something or not doing it correctly.

As I already mentioned that mailboxes 811, 812 etc are different greetings and not assigned to any patricular phone extension.

Thanks again!

You have to have a 656 programmed so when it hits the voicemail it goes to the 811 box. That would have to be done at the originating station.

[int # 656 91 (mailbox digits) redial hang up]
sends call to proper mailbox after hitting the voicemail

I can't keep my eyes open and I'm yawning so it must be right or something like that. Give it a try, there are no blasting caps in the ksu.

It's SMDI so 656 codes are not used.

Thanks for responding.

I tried #656, no luck. Even for regular phone extension (e.g. x601)that has a phone connected, I tried #656, #657. I left a message by dialing 800 (that forwarded to vm station 6111) then entering mailbox 601. The MSG light for x601 did not light up. That makes me feel that some integration problem with tty port cable. On the main system we are using tty port on RSIU1 card. On the BACKUP system it is on PIOU1 card. I did not change any connection or setting on Stratagy 6 Lite end. Just for the curosity I disconnected the tty cable from the BACKUP system and I was still able to access main greeting using 6111 (VM station assigned to VM port) and able to access mailboxes by dialing them while greeting was being played. Program 03 has 43 for PIOU1 slot. Is there a test to check the tty (RS232 SMDI) integration? Any other program setting to verify?

Have a good Memorial Day weekend! Thanks - kdas

First, remove the 656 codes because that's for dtmf integration. Test for SMDI by plugging the PPTC-9 into a serial port on a PC. Open Hyperterminal and set for 7,E,1. The baud rate is either 300 or 1200 depending on the jumper position on the PIOU. Also make sure that the jumper on the PIOU is set for TTY. Place a call into voicemail from a station and you should see something like this MD001XXXXd 0000000YYY 0000000ZZZ where d is a direct call to vm, XXXX is a vm extension, YYY is the called extension, and ZZZ is the calling extension.

The RSIU on the main system is capable of using a higher baud rate than 1200. The PIOU will not utilized anything but 300 and 1200, your SMDI on the voice mail integration will only work if the baud rates match between systems. Again follow instructions from phonemeister this will help you determine if you are receiving info from the systems.
Take out the 656 codes
