OK, have my blackberry, cool new toy, now does anyone know a rocket scientist and a brain surgeon that can get together and program this thing? I can program an option 11 from ground up but getting this to even ring louder is a total mystery and i even read the manual!

If it's an 8830 wait until you call voicemail. Bimbo in a box says "please enter your password followed by the # sign." You have to wait for the entire message to complete before you punch your pass code...other wise you get a canned short version of your input rejection. Main screen roams from music to whatever kingdom it determines to be appropriate at the time. What a pile of crap.

You'll have to call customer service for internet apps.

Verizon GZ'One is the best phone I have had, it is very durable. I have talked to a guy that dropped his in a mud puddle found it 3 hours later and dried it off made his calls. Supposedly this phone was originally built for the military.

I have had verizon for years, and this phone gets signal in places my other verizon phones would not.

I can't purchase those blackberry or other computer phones they are way too easy to break. Don't know how many times I dropped a phone off the ladder.

I have been outside many years and have gone through a lot of phones and carriers,, the most reliable I have found is Alltel, I have been with them about 7 years now, and I am using a Motorolla 815, It has big buttons for those of us with fat fingers, and I seldom lose a call..

My two cents....

For the 8830 - if you have an microSD card installed, you can simply plug it into a computer and treat it as a usb thumb drive. Copy your music and pics to the appropriate folders under the Blackbery folder and you're done! No need for the BB desktop software if you don't want it.

As for the ringing options - the 8830 hides the advanced features. The profile menu looks like it only has a few options, but if you keep scrolling down, you'll find the menu continues and you get the ability to edit all the profiles to your hearts desire.

Another trick I teach my users, is to treat the menu button like right-clicking in Windows. If gives you options to do whatever you can possibly do with whatever your cursor is on.

I use the 8830 w/Verizon for work (rock solid IMO), and the Pearl w/Cingular personally (no data plan, just as phone). The Pearl...is ok, great as a phone but its predictive text is certainly no Nostradamus. In fact my cat can predict what I'm typing better. Other than that decent battery life and good call quality.
