Hello,

I'm the admin for a company that has a CTX670 along with a Stratagy ES. The Stratagy ES is a stand alone computer.

My question is: Is there a way to disable the greeting that plays whenever someone dials into a fax port??? It always says to the caller "Press the start button on your fax machine, when you hear the tone". After that, the typical fax tones are heard.

Since not many other fax machines answer a call with such unnecessary instructions, it actually seems to mess up most people who are faxing us.

I've listened to all the VOX files I can find on the Stratagy and I can't find the one in question. I wanted to replace it with a VOX containing 1 second of silence.

Any ideas???

Thanks,

Barry H

If you have version 4.617 or higher use the Recievefax_NP option in the chain applications for each mailbox. If you have a lower version you can use the J token but it's more work.

WoW! So there's hope? Thanks for the reply!

I believe I have v4.503 and I can't find a reference to the J token. Is it an undocumented thing?

I've used tokens in the voice mail before. Are there any parameters used with the J token?

Thanks!

Let's say you have the fax DID directed to mailbox 500 to recieve faxes for mailbox 200. In the RNA Chain, choose TokenApp @J(200,"G7"). Record brief silence in greeting 7 of mailbox 500.

Ok. That makes sense now! Tell it to play a greeting and then create a greeting that contains nothing but silence.

I will give that a try. Thank you very much for your help. smile

Hello,
When you used this solution as I have, did you lose the caller id header on the email. We use unified messageing. Faxes are sent as Emails with tif attachemnents And they used to have the sending number in the from area, now it is just the local forwarding extension.

Any thoughts?

Just to give a little more info. I have a CTX 100. The Chain RNA I set to "TokenIntApp" with paramenter as suggested. Original value in the Chain RNA was "DIRECTSENDFAX". This did forward the calling number as the from in the email but played the Voice intro. ES Administration v. 4.017 (I am looking for the latest version from my vendor)

Thanks.
