I am programming a dk16 system in our church we have a reception phone that works fine. I have 3 questions.
1.How do you program in station speed dials?
2.When you press a station button it rings throug to the mic and not the handset-How do I changr it to handset answer only?
3.Also the handset does not work on the station sets only the mic button for full duplex-is there any way I can changr this?

I have the system manual, but I am just learning on this system and not trained at all-just prior knowledge of different systems, any help would be appreciated.

1)If you want them on a button (which needs to be assigned in program 39) -press redial-press the button-enter phone number- press redial again. If not on button, do the same procedure except where you would press a button enter *10 then phone number , then redial. (first speed dial code *10, second speed dial *11 ..etc..)

2) Program 10-1 , press/light bottom button (intercom button) that will activate "tone first" ..which is what you want....ringing tone first versus voice.

3) Not sure what your requesting here..guessing you don't have 'automatic preference' setup maybe...are you pressing a line button after pressing speaker? ..if you don't have A.P. setup you would have to be. Program 32 (Did you mean headset??...not handset..?)

Thanks both of you. The tone first program did the trick. With regard to number 3, to try to re-explain:
The main console works just fine, but the four station consoles are the ones with the handset issue. When the main console or any other station tries to ring another station either via the preprogrammed "shortcut" key or via INT then the station number, the station being dialed (all except the main console) can only answer in handsfree. They cannot go to off-hook no matter what we do to it. We've tried options in 10-3, 30, 31, and 17. We looked at the automatic preferences in 32 and they are enabled and set to 00 for none. Unfortunately, we are missing the explanation pages for 32 and only have the blank record sheet for it. We thought it might be a plug-in inside the phones (the manual mentions this), but there weren't any. We have the main console, two LCD station phones (model # DK2010-SD) and two without LCD (model #2010-H).

Thanks again for your help - we appreciate your input.

Update - read that the SD is speakerphone, and the H is handsfree...would like to be able to switch a call from handsfree to off-hook, but aren't sure how. Also, haven't done program 17 because can't find LED designations in the manual - we got the manual from someone else. The main console already does this. Thanks.

Swap out each of the 4 console phones with the main console and see if the problem remains or not. Sounds like you have a bad hookswitch problem.

Jake, the SD designation on the phone simply means display model, as opposed to just an S designation. The H means that it is handsfree, but only on intercom calls, not on outside calls. That might be one source of your problems.

You have bad hookswitches which is why those phones will not function in handset mode, only in speakerphone mode. It is a very common problem.
The same problem, before it gets to be so severe, also results in dropped calls, especially when placing calls onto and off of hold. Once the problem has gotten to be really bad, and the hookswitch has failed completely, you cannot use the handset at all as the phone does not see that you lifted the handset.
We repair them and offer a life time warranty on the hookswitch repair. Feel free to call me (800) 797-0070 or visit our web site (link below).
