I have just purchased the SoftIPT software for the boss, but need some setup advice. I can get it to work outside of the office as long as the physical IPT extension on his desk is disconnected. I would like the ability for hime to have the physical phone on his desk and the ability to use the SoftIPT when he is on the road. What would I need to do to accomplish this? The techs at the telco were mentioning a Phantom DN to impersonate his physical extension...doesn't sound right.

They are close.... Give the SoftIP a different extension. If his hard phone is 205, give the SoftIP 405. In station programming put a SDN button of 205 on the 405 phone. Also give the 405 a VMID of 205. I do this all the time, its great!

Do you know of any wireless headsets that work with the SoftIPT phone? Our vendor sent us a Plantronics CS50-USB that I do not believe is supported. Works for all other audio on the PC or laptop, but it doesn't work with the software.
Another thing, I cannot get audio on the remote PC once I install the SoftIPT on my computer. It connects to the remote extension, but no audio on the PC.

Diffserv is disabled. I switched the setting to G.711 and fired up the SoftIPT software and hit the speaker button. The software immediately shut down with a Bufferr Overrun error in softipt.exe Is there a newer version of the software out there? The executable version is 1.5.5.0

That looks lke the laterst version. From Toshiba Web Knowlege, about buffer overrun errors:
In WinAdmin or eManager, program 250, IPT Data, the Soft IPT must be set to use Audio Codec G711 and Voice Packet Table which has FK1 Voice Packet Trans. Int as 20 msec only.
Check the Voice Packet table to make sure the settings are default:
Voice Pacet Table = 3 01. Voice Packet Trans. Int. = 20 02. Jitter Buffer Type = Adaptive 03. Jitter Buffer Length = 100 04. Max. Acceptable Delay = 200 05. Measurement Period = 1000 06. Packet Loss Ratio = 5 07. Packet Loss Threshold = 5
It is recommended to use a Voice Packet Table which is not being utilized by other IPT's or voice mail ports, because if FB 01 is set to 30 or higher this error will be generated.
You can easily change settings to manufacturer's default by selecting the Voice Packet Table number, pressing the reset button ( to the left of the submit button) then submitting.

That seemed to have sorted it out. Now I just need to figure out how to set up the new IPT extension for SoftIPT to show a presence for another line in the office. When the user is out of the office and on the SIPT I want it to be like he is on his desktop phone. SOmeone mentioned Phantom DNs, but I am having problems wrapping my head around how that will work.
Thanks again.

Not a Phantom DN, but a secondary appearance of the DKT's Extension, onto the SoftIPT.
As in the example above from Voyager, on ext 405 (the softIPT), put a button for DN 205, and set to ring. You may be able to remove exts 405's Intercom button and replace with DN 205.
Set VMID for 405 to 205, so he can check voicemail. Pretty sure MSG light won't work tho.

You can't remove the PDN for 405. You'll confuse the system because you can't have two PDN205's.
In VM box 205 set a notification template to turn on (and off) the msg lite on 405. That way the msg is stored in MB205 and flashes on both phones. Then you can check it from either extension.

I did it one time. I removed the Intercom button and replaced it with a Secondary DN button. The Extension number for the phone was still technically the old extension with different Intercom buttons. I didn't think I could, but the system let me. I did not do very much testing, but I did not hear any complaints from the customer (not that I would hear them all). That was the one and only time I removed the PDN from the phone.
Forgot about added another notify. Good idea.
