I have a Strata DK 424 using RCTUC/D. We're using the system to support our telemearketing operations.

My problem is, we're experienceing dial tone delay during peak calling hours. I have around 75 people which do mostly outgoing calls at the same time.

My system is eqquiped with 120 digital lines (15 PDKU) and 4 T1 CO connections which is within the limit. I also have an 8 ckt dtmf receiver added to the system.

When the problem occurs, it takes around 7-10 seconds before dial tone can be heard as soon as a line button is pressed. Dialing is somehow delayed such that it takes several seconds before dtmf tones can be heard after they were keyed on the phone.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

OK...first off are you using the T-1's directly to your system or are you utilizing a channelbank?
Are you using dialer circuits or just how are the users accessing dialtone? You say they are pressing a button, what is programmed under that button? Is it a trunk group? What do you determine the "Peak " calling hours to be? And where do these calls go? USA? Europe? Canada? Who is your provider of the T-1's have they monitored during the "Peak" calling hours? Have they done a line study? Are all 96 lines/circuits dedicated to the same trunk group? Are you sure that all the circuits are good?

Depending on if you have a voicemail system and/or single line telephone sets on your system I would up my DTMF circuits in proportion to the devices, 8 seems a little low.I'd start by doulbling that to 16.

You need to ask yourself if this just started or has anything recently changed. Is it something that has been getting more, and more frequent over the last year. It could be in your provider or in your switch programming. It really warrants a visit from your local certified Toshiba tech.

my center is located in the Philippines and I have all T1 circuits connected to a CISCO voip box/router. the other end is connected to a similar box and to t1 carrier connections to a long distance carrier in the United states (LA). All calls go the the US`therefore.

All Phones are programmed such that to make a US call the button(1) is pressed to get pbx dial tone. dialing "9" points the call to a t1 channel which provides second dial tone. all t1 circuits by the way are group together. Dial "9" group.

the dial tone delay problem happened when the number of agents increased from 50 to 70 two weeks ago and until now.

unfortunately, support is not available for toshiba pbx here in the country. The dealer who sold us the system in the US is helping us to correcr the problem and i'm simply getting a second opinion.

i suspect that I don't have enough dtmf receiver circuits but the dealer said that it's not because digital phones doesn't require or use dtmf receiver circuits.

You might have exceeded the pool key limit. Remove the pool line appearances from the new phones that you just added and see if that helps.

Hi guys! MY SYSTEM IS OKAY NOW. Just want to update everyone on what happened.

I added a 12 circuit dtmf receiver card but it really didn't help much.

Yesterday I removed all analog CO card(RCOU/RCOS)and simply replaced it with a T1 card(RDTU2).

Delay has been reduced dramtically with maximum delay of 2 seconds during busy hours.

Thank you very much for all your suggestions and help. till next time....
