Is there a way that I can setup an extension to open the external paging port and allow an outside caller to speak from a remote location?

We use the external paging as a security device to warn off unwanted visitors. Since we have video surveillance at night from home I would like to be able to holler at someone even if I am not there.

Usually it is DISA line programming or Viking/Bogen unit that has CO line you can call in and do overhead Paging.

Not on a Toshiba. You can't access External Page with DISA.

Do you have a Stratagy voicemail? If you do you could use token programming in a mailbox to access the external page and play a message. Sort of a prerecorded GET OUT OF HERE laugh

While I agree with breed and SSPhone you will need to use a external setup that has talkback abilities.

The V-9940 is a good pick and there are others out there.

I've used Valcom units in the past and depending on the actual application and the surrounding areas audio levels Talkback can work well, in a high noise area or a large square footage area they tend to no live up to expectations.

My suggestion, is if it at all possible.... NEVER use DISA.

This issue got tabled and we are just now getting back to it after 2 recent attempted break-ins. We nabbed a couple of bad guys because we happened to be watching the surveillance at the time they showed up and called the police. It would have been even nicer if I could have yelled at them by calling in from home.

SSPhone asked if we have Strategy, we don't, but we do have Contact-DK and I am looking for a similar feature there. If that fails I will pursue the Valcom option to see what I can do with that. Our external speaker is the Valcom that was recommended to me on this very board. We had to turn the volume way down....that thing can wake the dead and we do have neighbors. lol

PI-DKT should be able to do the trick. It takes a digital port and turns it into a page port. Else, do a check on mike sandman's store for interesting products that may help you.

I just called the manufacturer for the PI-DKT. Unfortunately it has no auto answer feature. So the net result would amount to the sound of a phone ringing through the speaker. If the item had an auto answer feature then it would have been perfect for my need. :-(
