I have a toshiba cix100 system with dkt2000 series desk phones. I've been pondering a way to get the phone to ring louder when I'm away from my desk, as I hate it blasting my eardrums when I'm sitting a foot and a half away, but often I can't hear it when I'm across the room. I'm almost positive I won't be able to do anything about it with normal programming, but how about an external solution? Maybe something from sandman? I'd be more than happy to tinker myself as well. I may just be banging my head against the wall, but I'm always up for an electronics/telcom project! Any and _all_ ideas are welcome! Thanks!

Chad; I think you should put this in the Toshiba thread, you will get a answer a lot faster.

Only issue I see with this is the ringing come over the speaker so if you plan on using the phone for a on hook call you will be sharing with everyone around you.

I've used in the past a S/L port and a tele-strobe device that rings and flashes.

I have this customer more than a decade ago, using a DK16 and he wanted to have this feature.
So, I programmed a call-forwarding button for him, which in effect, rings to a SLT port connected to a ringer/strobe device too.
Because he told me that the wireless headset (with auto off-hook) quoted to him costs more or less the price of another DK16.

I may try to do something like that. However, and I may have to do a good bit of tweaking, I want something that automatically or semi-automatically forwards call, or makes ringer louder, or whatever, when I get up. I don't really need a wireless headset or the toshiba cordless phone, our office is small enough for me to run to the phone, if I can hear it ring. One problem I am wondering about is that I have a HHEU2 in the phone for my headset, which seems apparently has a "headset/loud ringing bell jack." Could I use a splitter to push both the headset and a loud ringer, or is there a setting/switch/jumper that makes it EITHER a headset adapter OR loud ringing port?

You can add a HESB speaker to the HHEU (connects by HESC cable) that will provide loud ringing off of the phone, or there is a new product from Toshiba that will do the same thing but don't remember the part number.

do I have to use toshiba's HESB? They're $100+ online, or can I use any speaker with the correct ohm/wattage combo?

Yes you have to use the HESSB or you can try the BESCB1A+PS External Page/Digital Telephone Loud Ringer Control Box & PS. Can be used with any speaker, but must be used with BHEU not the HHEU and will probably cost just as much
