I have 6 Toshiba standard desk phones in my house (model - DKT2010-SD), and I'm trying to add a digital cordless base toshiba phone (Model - DKT2004-CB). When I push the button to switch to cordless from desk, the red light doesn't switch over. Also when I turn on the cordless phone, it flashes "aquiring link" for five seconds, than displays the words "no service."

Any suggestions on what I can do to resolve my problem?

Hi and Welcome to the board. I hope that we area able to assist you and that you find us very useful.

How do you have the cordless hooked up to the phone system, as a stand alone unit (with its own wiring and extension number) or as a companion hooked to one of the DKT2010-SD telephones?

Where did you buy the cordless at?

Was it NEW?

I'd first verify I had it connected correctly.

What system to do have? I dont think the 2004 will work on a DK16. 16E or 40 it will. But this sounds more like a handset and base mismatch.

Something else to look at - I believe the serial number of the base and the phone have to match to work properly.

Thanks for the replys. We have had the cordless base and phone for a while and it used to work, so I know it is compatible with the system. The cordless base is hooked up directly to the wall and then the regular phone DKT2010-SD is hooked up through the cordless base unit. The desk phone works fine but when you put the cordless base into cordless mode and then pick up the cordless handset and hit talk it says acquiring link but then never finds the link and says no service. I think it is hooked up right and that we have compatible phones but I am wondering if something needs to be programmed on the phone or something else like that. Any info would be appreciated as the wife is not happy that she can no longer walk around while talking.

Make sure the line cord coming from the wall goes to the correct input on the base unit and then a line cord from the unit to the desk phone, I believe that if you have them backwards it won't work right.

I would contact your closest Toshiba Vendor it sounds like your unit may have an physical issue that will require repair and/or replacement.

When I have issues with no service condition on a DKT cordless, and the connections look good, I always do a hard reset of the phone. Remove the battery from the handset, Unplug AC power from the Base, wait about 10 secs. Reapply power to the base, put the battery back into the handset, return the handset to the base. Wait 10 secs. See if it works. I have always had goods results doing this.

sounds like a bad cordless phone, the hard reset might work ..

also I believe the phone when working will switch to cordless automatically.

If you want the buttons to switch it from cordless/desk you have to open up the base unit a cut the strap inside.

Thanks for all of your ideas. I tried them all with no succcess. I think it probably is a bad handset so I will have to take it in. I have been avoiding that as the phones are very expensive as are the repairs.

Disconnect the desk phone and use only the cordless.
