I am trying to access our Toshiba Strata System. My boss assigned this to me. I am not a Telephony guy and I don't have any idea how to do this.
My co-worker told me to use DKAdmin(?) cause that's what they're using before. The old computer that used to connect to the Toshiba Strata System bogged down so we have to find a way to connect again.
Now my problem is, whenever I run the DKAdmin program, I get an error "Hardware key not installed. Exiting to DOS." message.
I don't have any idea how to go about this and if this is the right place to post this. Any help will be very much appreciated.
TIA

Sounds like you missing a red dongle that accompanied the admin software and plugs into the back of your laptop or computer.

I would suggest you get a manual and program through the phone, or maybe even call someone who is Toshiba certified, as Ken said the is a hardware key that must be on the computers printer connection

Yeah, it was the red dongle that's missing.
Ok, so now the program is running. We already typed in our customer file details. But when dialing in to the Toshiba Strata, nothing happens... it just displays "Initializing DIU... " then "Closing communications port - 2" appears.
Really don't know much about this but if you encountered this before of you have any suggestions, I'll appreciate it.
Thanks.

Are you connected directly, or dialing in?

I think we're connected directly. A phone cable connected to COM2 (via a DB-9 to RJ-45) is connected directly to the PIOU1 card of the Strata.
I also changed the COM port's settings: Baud Rate : 1200 Parity : Even Data Bits : 7 Stop Bits : 1

OK.....Make sure your com port on laptop matches settings in Admin
While your at it, there is a switch on the PIOU card TTY/MODEM. Set to TTY.
Use the top RJ11 port on the card

Thanks for your input guys.
Ken.. Yes, we're using a 6-pin plug.
Voyager, I matched the COM port settings of the computer with Admins. I also used the top RJ-11 port on the card.
Now, I'm not exactly sure where the TTY/MODEM switch is but there is a red switch right under the bottom RJ-11 port. (Dunno if this is the right one) Tried connecting to the Strata while the switch was pushed "on" and "off" but I still can't connect to the Strata.
Does the Customer File settings affect in any way with the connection? Here are our Customer File Settings in Admin..
DIU String.. ATS2=43~~~ATDD Modem Dial String.. ATDT DK Model, Release.. DK424i, B2C , R4.x
Thanks again. =)
