Has anyone tried to connect standard SIP (non-Toshiba) stations to a LIPU/MIPU? I can't even seem to get a response from the CIX when I send a "REGISTER" packet. The manual doesn't describe much.

I've set up SIP wireless devices on the Toshiba but they were "approved and tested" by Toshiba.
It was fairly simple from what I can remember.
Need to make sure you have all licensing and correct software revisions..

I have a MIPU with 8 IP licenses. According to the docs the IP licensing applies to all IP phones except a SoftIP or SIP trunking. Oh my if I'm wrong that would be my problem. The CIX is at 5.10.
When you say "approved and tested" what do you mean? I could only find the Uniden UIP 200 as a "recommended" set to use. The docs show "standard SIP - RFC3261" sets are supported. Do you know of a list of approved ones? And would a standard SIP client on a desktop work w/o a SoftIP license? Since I'm not using the proprietary SoftIP client, can I use any SIP client?

I've only connected a Hitachi Wireless SIP to an MIPU. It only requires an IP endpoint. Just make sure the Station Type is set to SIP. It worked right away for me. I would not think that a Desktop SIP client would require a SoftIPT licence.

Uniden 200 works as does the Hitachi wireless and the Polycom IP501. As stated above, the station must be created as SIP. Make sure your L/MIPU cards have the latest firmware.

Today I tried to connect with x-lite SIP software, just to experiment a bit. I got it to register, but I could not get it to make a call.

I also had problems with the X-Lite with Toshiba. Never got it to make calls. It was able to register but never make calls. I stopped trying on the Toshiba, and put it on my Tadiran and it worked fine.

Thank you for all the info. I've created them as SIP and also installed the latest firmware on the MIPU (I think). Something just isn't right here.
Here's what I have...
The MIPU is MIPU01_06DA200. The processor is at AR5.10 MS017.00.
I added a new station and selected it as SIP. Now, from my SIP client I would need to define an outgoing Proxy server and a Restistrar. Wouldn't they both be the IP addy of the MIPU? I know this should be easier than it is and that's what's throwing me off.
Thanks again for all of the responses.

There is a slightly newer version. MS018 is latest, which actually rolls out SIP trunking. For SIP client, that version should be OK.
You should be pointing to the MIPU, but I don't know if you need to set an outgoing Proxy. I think you can leave it blank.

Anything that claims to be "standard SIP" should work. I've got an unlocked vonage router connected to our system as a SIP extension, only had to put in the SIP proxy, username, and password, and change the dial plan on the router to allow for extension numbers and access codes. Works fine.
