Here is the List we gave to them:
1) Would like a system queue so that customers would not have to leave voice mail messages when a person is unavailable.
2) Reporting that would show calls over time with various measurements.
3) Reporting that would list call duration
4) Ability to expand (customize) on reports that are available out of the box.
5) Reporting that would show call volume per person (in and out)
6) Fail safe backup system.
7) Easy to upgrade value addeded service or features in the future.
8) Remote access, The ability to handle calls on the road as a part of PBX, from the hotel, or from home or from remote office in london as a part of PBX extension.
9) the ability to monitor the que, indicate when a person is out of the office or away from their desk , if a person is away from desk call would be transfer to their cell phone or multiple alternatives.
10) Changing greeting for off hours for different department.
11) Interface with CRM system. A customer account would automatically be pulled up based on phone number callin in, If the phone number doesn't exist then the system could pull up potential customer records based on area code or phone number listed in the customer record.

The CIX with a MAS that includes Stratagy, Oaisys and Taske products will fulfill the list. Number 13 is iffy and may require an IVR depending on what you're trying to do. Number 16 sounds good in theory but the wireless network isn't going to sustain a good enough connection for VoIP. It'll work ok on a wireless ethernet LAN though if your PDA supports it.

agree with above post, mas with oaisys, taske and Ies is what you want as opposed to ies16,
the pda soft phone is ok but you can use the same license and have the soft phone on a laptop which is usually rock solid ...
sounds like your vendor has it covered ...

It looks like several items will require VoIP. The traditional MAS connects to a CIX using VoIP cards.
For remote access on #8, the user could have a VoIP phone or a Softphone on the Laptop and have an extension anywhere there is an Internet connection. You would need an IP card accessable from the Internet.
For # 15, there is a new feature called IP Mobility, the lets the user log into another phone and transfer his extension. Also if you move the phone, the extension will fallow. This also requires Voice over IP phones.
A non IP solution for #15 would be with a MAS feature the lets you hot swap extensions. You need a MAS and Feature Flex license.
With #9 there is another MAS feature call one number access that will call another number when you dial an extension and they don't answer.
I have tried a couple of these features in our office, but have not setup these up for a customer yet.
If you want to record all calls, then you may also need a tracer.
The bad thing about going 100% IP is that all your hardware would be useless, phones card, etc. The good thing about going with Toshiba CIX instead of another full IP ystem, is that you can go Hybrid and stay with the DKT sets and ad IP.
An in case you aren't sure what a MAS is; A Stratagy IES16 is an in-skin (Goes in the cabinet) Stratagy voicemail. The PC based MAS is also a Stratagy voicemail, but can do a lot more (depending on licenses). It can also be an ACD (Automatic call Distribution), run Taske, and other applications like Feature Flex. Plus with hosting MyPhoneManager, eMonitor, and eManager, it makes it easy for the user or managers to make changes on their own.

Yes, yes and yes... posts above by phonemeister and telecom1 have it covered. I have only dealt with one customer trying Verizon phone with IP ext... not much luck at first, so they switched to laptop... as they wanted to connect to phone, while out, hotel, at lunch, etc.
