Customer had a r2 StratagyDK that was experiencing delayed messages. Replaced the VM with an IVP8 to take advantage of dtmf guard timer, but it hasn't helped. I've tried ALL in the dtmfuid.txt file and also a list of the VM boxes that are experiencing the problem, but no change... At any rate, I'm wondering if switching to SMDI would help. This customer has had all kinds of bizzare problems with their phone system, we've swapped out the cabinets, tails, processor (reprogrammed by hand, not from backup). Granted, they haven't complained about their mysterious problems in quite a while, but I'm hesitant to sell them a new system to fix the delayed messages when I'm not certain that it'll be fixed!
So, will switching to SMDI help and if so, how do I program a 424 for it?

Everytime a customer reported "delayed messaging I've always found it to be one of two issue's: one is depending and how msg lamp turn off is programed in the 424 the user will hang up without listening to all of their new messages and the msg light will turn off ( you can program the 424 to not turn off msg light until all msgs are listented to and either saved or deleted) so when the next new msg comes in there could be msgs from the last login, second is if you have more than one new msg and you pres the"1" too many times it will skip over a new msg for each time you press "1" keeping it as a new msg. Then the next time you log in there are news msgs from the last time.

Right, I understand that and have dealt with it at several sites. This is the only one that I haven't been able to resolve using the DTMF guard timer.

I hate to ask but your sure the time is correct? You say delayed messages, by time/date stamp or have you left a message and then checked to see its not there? There are reports you can look at for usage and all busy. Are you sure that your ports of VM aren't overworked to the point of not being able to light lites? Is it front ended AA, if so how many ports and how many lines? Are they using Distribution lists? Take the last port out of the DHG. Just some thoughts or ideas to think about if you haven't already.
