I am trying to extend the microphone capabilities of a DKT2010 phone by purchasing an external area mic for conferencing. I bought an area mic with a 1/8" and 1/4" jacks. Is there a converter to the phone headset or is there an area microphone that works with the phone system? I have searched all over and Haven't been able to find anything that extends beyond the intercom mic.

Why not spend the money on an actual conference speaker phone? Got Polycom?

Will it work with a Strata DK280 system? I am trying to avoid getting another phone line and number.

It will work just fine with the DK280 and all the other Toshiba systems. I'd reccommend the Soundstation 2, because you can only get used Soundstation 1's usually all beat up with at best a 90 warranty.

The 2000 series phones were not meant to act as high-quality conference phones. You will be better off pursuing a Polycom solution.

To answer your question : yes, a Polycom will work with an analog port on the DK280. Do you know what your system configuration is (i.e. - the cards in the ksu)?

If you already know what an analog port is, then you're set.

If not, then check your system for a card labeled RSTU, BSTU, RDSU, etc. Anything with ST or SU refers to a single line station.

OR

You could also install a TK-6 switch on the least used line.

They do have the DKT 2020-FDSP full duplex speaker phone. I thought I remember that one I put in having the capability to add an extenal mic, possibly with an addon card.

For conference rooms, Polycom would definatly be the best choice. We put in the FDSP for someone that needed a desk phone with a better speakerphone then the DKTs came with. All the other phones are half duplex.

The FDSP does have an external mic option, I don't remember the part number though.

The DKT2020-FDSP is discontinued from Toshiba but I'm sure you can probably find it on the web somewhere.
