Just installed a new cix 40 with 3207 phones at a service station. The old system had a valcom paging horn tied into a phone out in the garage area so someone up front could page over head and the mechanics could just talk back and the person who page could hear them reply. I have been told it's been done before but they couldn't remember how.

Tell them to talk very loud.
I have never installed talk back speakers before but obviously you could not use the page port. If the valvom has some type of telephone interface unit you are going to have to use an analog port or a CO line.

I have installed exactly one of them in 10+ years. We put it in a Granite/Stone - cutting/engraving business. If I remember correctly, we used a PI-DKT and called the station to start the call.
It is not very responsive in a loud environment, which this is. Make sure of the background noise level, before you make any promises.

You might try: https://www.valcom.com/pdf/pageguidetb.pdf Also: Call Valcom at 800-VALCOM1. They can help with most situations. What system did you replace?? How was it hooked up to the old system? Are all of the parts there?? Ypou can download all sorts of tech specs for all of the Valcom stuff. Get some model numbers from the equipment.

I talk further with the customer and they would call that extension to page. Iam guessing that the old phone they came off the speaker in the phone to a Valcom horn?

Ya I guess that would be the "poor mans" way of doing it. The page comes over the phones speaker which is actually the paging horn, and they yell back utilizing the mic on the phone.

I have seen a lot of this scenario where the audio leads to the speaker of a shop phone are tapped to go to the self powered paging horn. It is effective but really the cheap, poormans way to accomplish what is asked for. I have to agree the a with Tony a PI-DKT is the way to go, and if they are using the shop phone the paging still comes thru the horn.

The CIX40 comes with 1 analog port. It will be the 23rd pair on the amp cable. Dwight Jones Toshiba IP Solutions www.exordiumconsulting.com

tap into the speaker easy, works good customer happy. I did find that toshiba has BESCB-1A an external speaker/ringer amplifier. Found info on FYI under Product Bullentins External speaker/ringer BESCB-1A (PBCIX-0033). Looks like a lot more work and money.
