Just to preface this, I have about 1 year experience with eManager, but I already had all the drops ready to go in eManager and they were all listed for me. So it was always just a matter of clicking on the DN and changing information (name, VM ID), etc.

I'm at a new company now and we have a secretary starting. She has a phone drop next to her desk. When I plug a phone into the drop, I get no dial tone, nothing shows up on the LCD screen of the phone.

I know the drop is already wired and everything, so what steps do I need to go through in order to get the drop active and into emanager? Below is a screenshot of my current eManager. How do I get the secretary's drop to be seen by eManager and show up in the circled section?

Hello nappyjim and welcome to the board!,

I wold start at the phone system and work my way towards the jack.

1. Test the phone at the 66/110 block.

2. If it is working there, test at any other feed points.

3. Test at the jack.

If it is bad at any of those points, then troubleshoot accordingly (bad block connections, bad cross connect, bad jack, etc.). If it is not working at the block, then you may have to create a new ext., since it looks like circuit 010106 was the last one created. Why anyone would delete 010107 an 08 is beyond me, but it looks like you may be dealing with that. If that is the case, then create the new DN on 07 and you will be set!

If the phone beeps when you press a button then it is connected to the Toshiba system, and you would need to create a new extension to get it running.

If the phone is completely dead then the phone jack needs to be connected (wired) to the phone system, and then a new extension would have to be created.

If any of the extension 10-15 are not in use, you can connect the jack at the phone board. Do you have any experience with wiring a phone?

You can add 2 more extensions to that system. You can have up to 16 digital extensions if an expansion card has been added.

Since you provided a picture on a recent post I see that you do not have an addon board, so you can have up to 8 extensions and 3 lines.

As MacOSX mentioned, 010107 and 08 are active ports but do not have an extension created for them. I too do not understand why someone would not add all the extesnions. There is a setup wizard that will create them all at once.

No experience wiring a phone. I'm a network admin over here, I've just had some experience with the phone system so we are trying to save money and not have to make a service call every time a person switches cubes or whatever.

I've tested the phone at the drop by my desk too and I get no dial-tone, no nothing as well (my drop was another place we were planning to add a phone).

What program in e-manager would I run to get these 2 extensions you guys say are missing, to show up?

EDIT:

Ok, I think its not completely wired. In the pic below, notice how the #1 on the block does not have wires going into it where I circled it, but #2 does. So I would need to get some wire and connect #1 to the block which feeds into the CIX, correct?

Then, will the extension show up in emanager, or do I need to run something?

How many working Toshiba sets do you have plugged in and working in the office right now? How many do you want to add?

Yes, as you have it right now, that jack does not have any connection to your phone system...

OK guys, I got the phone working now!!

But as you can see from the first pic, we have extensions 10-15, and now 16 with the one i just hooked up.

Is there a reason why the phone co would start at extensions 10 and not 1? According to my rep, our system can handle 16 extensions. So if I add more, do I need to go backwards now (9,8,7,6...1)?

Personally, I prefer to start extention numbers at 200 (default for the newer systems). Think about starting numbers at 1, what would you do when it got to 11, 12, etc...? As far as numbering goes, you can make them anything you want, BUT you want some form of consistancy: as your numbering scheme goes now you are looking at 10-25 for DKT's (16 stations).

I see, ansmith.

I got a problem now with emanager. In the pic below, the phone co only labeled the panel up to 1-1-8 or for emanager, for Prime DN:16, I put in 010108 for the 'PDN Equipment Number'.

Now according to phone co, we have an extension board our system which gives us another 8 extensions. So I connected the wires to the next spot below 1-1-8 (circled in RED), thinking that would be 1-1-9.

But when I go into emanager and put in a Prime DN of 17 and Equip # of 010109 I get an error saying "The code entered contains a value that is not permitted"

I know the phone is getting power at least because when I press a button, it makes a beep.
