I have a customer with a ies32 voicemail using the faxing feature. The problem is intermittenly the port lock up, the status show fax connected and it never disconnects. The only way to get the port status to disconnect is restarting stratagy services.
I used emanager (maint) forced the ports disable and then enable this clears the port but the IES port status still shows fax connected, they do answer when called. thanks for any advice

Are you using Analog trunks? Does the carrier provide disconnect supervision?

It might be stuck in an infinite loop. Use Stratagy Admin and go through each mailbox under the Chains/Groups/Fax tab. Look at the Chain Fax field and try to find something that might cause a loop.

I checked all the chains everything is normal.
what I did find is there are 8 ports x601-608, hunt grp 1 pilot 600 (ports 1-6) hunt grp 2 pilot 400 (ports 7-8).
hunt grp 2 (ports 7-8) have 24 DID numbers pointed (these personal fax numbers answered by hunt grp 2 (ports 7-8) and carry the VID to direct them to the users mailbox.
Ports 7-8 are also setup in Q2 notification and in vm parameters fax is set to use Q2.
Some users are constantly sending 5 or more page faxes out Q2 (7-8). the port status indicates fax connect,,,,if i call port 7 or 8 directly while the fax is connected it drops the fax and answers. on several attemps the system rebooted, event viewer only shows watchdog and shutdowwn.
I checked all the vm ports no call waiting or campon tones, does the system still send any tones even if disabled in station tab or does this also have to be disabled in the incoming line group.
A year ago the vm was sent to toshiba for repair and the loaner had no problems (the black faced IES) this one has had these problems constantly.
sorry for such a long winded post, I'm thinking hardware problem or too much traffic.
any advice
thanks stew1213

Normally campon is enaled in the voicemail hunt group. Even if it is disable there, it will campon if enable in ILG.
Since the Stratagy can handle 2 faxes at a time the installer setup ports 7 and 8 for only faxing. Another methode would be to setup call-by-call so that the fax DIDs, and the 2 VM ports only get 2 channels on the PRI and the third caller gets a busy signal.
Even with campon, I've never heard of the Stratagy picking up a camped call and dropping an existing one.
