I have a Toshiba IVP8, that I can not connect to from lattop. It now says failure to intialize modem. Had this for about four years and have always been able to connect. In the admin mailbox (999) can not even set time . I have a toshiba voice brick that it connects to just fine. The phone system is Dk 280.

Are you connecting to it direct with a nul modem cable or dialing in to the modem?

If you can't set the time , it is probably set to get the time off of the phone system

Then my guess would be you are either connected to the wrong com port, using the wrong baud rate or are using the wrong software to connect to the IVP8.

I am using the same software as always and the same cable and settings. This laptop always stays in our phone room just for the voice mail. Only turn it to admin the voice mail, and has always worked for the last three years are so. I just as a test connected it to our voice brick voice mail and connected just fine.

If you are in the Phone room , why are you using the modem , why not connect via the serial connection ????

What are you using to connect? VMmanager? UAdmin?

Try another cable.
