I tried connecting my laptop to the wifi then used the ethernet port on the laptop to share the internet with the phone. Worked intermittently. Is there any sure way?

Thanks,
Rick

Get another wifi router and use it in bridge mode?

I use the soft IP phone on my laptop via wireless with good results. It's certainly a surer way than trying to run an IPT set via wireless.

The Dlink pocket router/bridge is awesome and about the size of a credit card.

I attempted to connect to the hotspot with a belkin router and then use it as an access point. It worked at home, but because the hotel service was pay per and I had to login through a browser, I could not figure out how to directly connect the router to the hotspot without a pc's browser first.

At the hotspot, using the pc's browser first, I was able to use the ethernet port out from the PC to share to the router to create my own wireless network. Problem was that the router kept dropping the internet connection and, therefore, the ip phone lost connectivity. The PC did not drop the internet connection. Alot of variables.

Thanks,
Rick

I wonder if the browser on the ipt5131 would get you access to the user name and password in a hotel situation?
