Someone complained about receiving multiple calls from some recorded message. Supposedly it came from one of my company outgoing phone lines. The phone number for our line #8 showed up on their cell phone log. My dialtone provider, Integra, ran some tests with Verizon, the copper provider, and were unable to figure it out and they suggested it could be from within CP. We have no auto dialing systems or modems just the Strata Dk280 which from my understanding can not make outgoing phone calls on its own. Can any of you verify this for me?
Also when Integra disabled our line #8, we were unable to make outgoing calls. I am assuming that it uses line #8 as the first line to dial out from. They will switch our line 7 with line 8 to see if the other phone number shows up in the recorded message. They are trying to run traps on the line as well. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? What do you recommend?

Sounds like someone outside of your facility is using your line 8 for their dialer. Sometimes your phone numbers are terminated on a block that may be located in another closet, suite or building altogether. What does the message say? Can you figure out whose it is by the message?
You are right about the 280. It does not have the capability of making calls by itself. If they want to disable line 8, take it out of program 16 so you can't grab it. Then your outbound calls will start on line 7.

All msg calls about 20 times each day saying only "Bruce" - we must have crossed lines with the Aussie Monty Python hotline. Verizon supposedly tested to see if our line was shared with anyone else which supposedly came out negative. I am not certain that it is a Verizon issue(copper) or an Integra issue(dialtone). Who is responsible for the block?
Integra is switching the hunt order of line 8 and 7 to verify whether it's coming from my CP or if it is the line on their end (I don't see how it could be us). Thanks for your input, I will convey with more certainty that we can't dial out messages.

Do you have voice mail on this system? A user may have set up message notification to dial his cell phone but keyed in the wrong number for notification. Just a thought.

Another possibilty is a caller ID spoofing. That has happened at our company.
But it also sounds to me like a message notification from a voicemail system .

You guys are right - it was the vm (Stratagy DK). Somehow one of the callback options arbitrarily turned itself on one of the mailboxes. Thanks a bunch!
