Ok, first post... Not sure if this should go here or not but here goes...

I have inherited a phone system as well as the sys admin job. We have a Toshiba Strata DK16 and are in dire need of an upgrade i.e. we need a bunch more extensions/phones. I think we have 4 lines in and a separate fax line.

Would it be better for us to buy an entirely new(used) system or can I just find a used next model up of the Toshiba and expand by just adding a few more handsets??

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Your phones should migrate to the CTX28 or CIX40. Depends on how many phones you want to add, then you could be into a 100.

Thank you. It appears these are ~$400.00 on ebay etc. Is it easier/more cost effective to just buy some other "whole" system from ebay for ~$500.00 or so?? Thoughts??

Thanks again.

Welcome to the board! Please complete your profile so we know a little more about you.

How many phones are on the system now? How many do you need?

If you're not going to exceed the capacity of the DK16, then just buy the phones. If you are, then I would find a CIX40 so you can use your existing DKT20XX phones (max 16 digital stations). Do you need voice mail? IP Phones?

I think we have already exceeded the capacity. I am told we are "full". I am not a phone guy, just the defacto IT guy. I will count up the extensions and post, what is the limit on phones? Are you saying the DK16 is 16 phones or the CIX40 is 16?

It appears we have 11 phones "hooked" up...

What kills me is there are extensions that are live but when I unplug a phone and move it to another location it doesn't work. In the closet it appears all of the lines go into the punch down and then go into the DK16... Obviously I am missing something.

Thanks.

Can someone point me in the right direction on my issue/question regarding max extensions for the DK16?

That and let me know if I am wasting my time (and yours) by trying to upgrade this system rather than just buying another newer used system?

Thanks.

The max on digital extensions is 16 , If you can find the I&M manual it gives the configurations. There are several different configurations.

If it was me I would upgrade to something NEW , if you go with Toshiba you can reuse the phones.

I personally would prefer new as well but the guys that write the checks are all about buying used equipment wherever and whenever possible. Then I have to figure it out....

What system from Toshiba would support 25+ extensions??

Thank you!
