Hi guys!

I have a Toshiba Strata DK280 phone system in my house, and I am trying to identify the cards inside of the system.

Here's a picture of the innards of the system:

I assume the two PDKU2s are what go out and connect to the different DNs or phones throughout the house. But what about the other two cards? I'm curious as to what they are and what they do.

Also, I believe I currently have a limit of something like 14 DNs/stations with my current setup. Does that sound accurate?

Once I hit the limit, how would I go about expanding that if I wanted to add a few additional stations? Would I simply get an additional PDKU2 card, and hook it up like the other two?

I'd appreciate any insight! Thanks!

The first card on the left is the processor, the PDKU's are 8 port station cards and the other is RCOU/RCOS that provides 8 circuits for outside dialtone. If you wanted to expand you would just add more cards. Your setup is 16 stations and 8 CO lines

Steve,

Thanks for the help!

If I got another PDKU card, could I put it in any open slot? Or does it have to be in a certain spot within the system?

Just put it in the next available slot , you will also need to program the system for the new card.

Great. Is the programming for something like that fairly easy?

By the way, what are these white CAT5 blocks known as? I want to make sure I have the terminology right. :-)

Also, I of course would have to connect another breakout cable from the additional card to these blocks. Does that cable have a specific name?

Thanks for your time!

Good stuff. Do you happen to know where I could find a programming guide/manual for the system?

Also... any idea what kinds of phones and such are compatible with the DK280? I know that the DKT-2010, 2020, and so forth are compatible. Does EVERY DKT* device work with the DK280? My apologies if this is a silly question!

DKT 2010 and 2020 as you mentioned are compatable. The DKT 3010, 3020, and 3210 and 3220 will also work (backwards compatable). They were made for newer systems but will operator in DKT 2000 series mode.
Cordless phones DKT2204-CT should also work, as well as 2304 and 2404.

The ones that I can think of that would not be compatable are DKT3014-SDL and DKT 3007.

There is also a single line digital phone, I think the model is DKT2001, which should also work.

Phone models with an 'S', such as DKT 2010-S are speaker phones. Ones with an 'H' do not have a mic, and 'SD' are speaker phones with LCD display.

Also, isn't there a full-duplex speaker phone or two out there? A phone with a FDSD or something like that in its model number?

Yes, DKT 2020-FDSP I think is the model.
