Hi everyone,
Have a Stratagy DK in skin on a Strata DK 424. Setup and programmed with SMDI. General setup for Stratagy is as follows:
Slot ID: 13 Ports: 16-22 Ext.: 800-807 DHPort: 900 DH:850
Two questions: 1. If I dial 850 Stratagy picks up and plays corporate greeting. Doing this repeatedly cycles through all port indicator lights on Stratagy. However, if I dial any of the programmed extensions directly (in this case: 800-807) the Stratagy does not pick up and the LCD shows "All lines busy". Is this normal for an inskin card?
2. Stratagy does not answer any extension programmed into system with a mailbox. Example Ext 205 is programmed with mailbox on Stratagy but it never goes to VM. Have checked all programming several times on Stratagy and Strata DK 424. I believe SMDI cord may be incorrectly pinned. Does anyone have a pinnout diagram for the six pin RJ12 to DB9 connector (PIOUS to Port1 Stratagy)?
As always, thanks in advance for any help.

I think you may be mistaken about the extension numbers. 801-808 are co line access codes, which is why you would be getting that error when. There are no co lines programmed into those groups.
The phones will only go to voicemail if call forwarding is setup on the phone. To setup call forward busy/no answer enter #604 850 Speeddial 16 Redial Speaker, for a 16 second delay to voicemail.
You can do a search for PPTC-9 here to find the pinout. If you connect the a laptop of PC to the serial port at the correct speed you should see the SMDI information when ou call the voicemail. If the voicemail answers with the main greeting when you call it or when a dialed extension forwards to voiemail, then something is not working correctly with the integration.

Newtecky,
Thanks for the response. With regard to extension numbers I programmed ports 16-22 (Stratagy) to correspond to extensions 800-807 using program 04. Should I reprogram the ports to different extensions, say 500-507?
Not sure I understand what you mean by "connect the a laptop of PC to serial port"?
Yes, I am getting main greeting. That is why I thought that SMDI integration cable may be incorrectly configured.

Yes, change the 04 programming to extensions that do not conflict with the current numbering plan. I normally use 500 for the DHG DN and use 501-508 for the DN's of the 016-023 ports. Try this link for the PPTC-9 pinouts - look about halfway down for junkmans post. https://www.sundance-communications.../ubb/get_topic/f/11/t/001717.html#000000

Phonemeister,
This is a new install of used equipment. Have access to Stratagy via VM manager v1.7. Have cleared all previous mailboxes associated with extensions and added only one for test purposes. In this case ext. 205.

BobRobert,
Have reprogrammed ports 016-022 to ext. 501-507 and changed DHG to 500. This has solved issue with accessing individual ports by direct dialing extension using 501-507.
However, still believe there is problem with SMDI cable because I only get main greeting. Calls to an extension forwarded to Stratagy get answered with main greeting not with that extensions greeting. If I choose to use directory Stratagy correctly identifies mailbox but rings extension rather than starting VM message/greeting for that box.

As newtecky mentioned earlier, unplug the DB-9 from the Stratagy DK and plug it into the serial port of your laptop. Open up hyperterminal and make a few test calls (dial internal to vmail and also dial a local number on a CO line). If you don't receive anything, you either have programming or cable issues. If you do get data from the switch, is it SMDR or SMDI data? Do you have a 7 or 8 port voice mail? Just wondering why you didn't program port 023 as 508.

Did you do prog *32? Verify that you are getting output from the PIOU by plugging the PPTC9 into the serial port on your laptop and opening up Hyperterminal with the correct settings. Place an internal call into voicemail and you should see the SMDI string.

You have to enable SMDI in the Stratagy and also set the base port ext. number to match your first vm ext. - 501 in your case.
