PHONEMEISTER Trying to verify output from PIOU without success.
-serial cable is pinned in accordance with link that I was provided above (tested pinouts on each end no problems).
DB9 - RJ -------- 1 - 2 2 - 6 3 - 5 4 - 3 5 - 1 6 - 4
-Tried various configurations all on COM1. 8-N-1, 7-E-1, 7-E-2, etc. baud rates varied from 300 on up also in various configurations.
-Tried both ports on PIOU (TTY, SMDR) SW1 set to TTY not modem.
-Baud set to 300 and 1200. Program 3 sets PIOU to 43 (SMDI (TTY).
No data received via hyperterminal even if I get "connected" indication on border of hyperterminal.
Does serial connection need to be made with null modem cable? What are setting for hyperterminal to connect?
With respect program *32 - not sure if programmed correctly. set as ports 000-015 (all system ports/ext) to first port on Stratagy 016. Is this correct?
BOBROBERT- turns out I have 6 port stratagy. Programmed one port too many. Thanks for catching that.

The pinouts above are correct if you are using a 6P6C mod to DB9F adapter and a normal 6 conductor line cord. SMDI = 7 data bits, even parity and 1 stop bit. SMDR = 8, none, & 1, with 1200 baud.
To test the cable, plug it in the SMDR port and make some test calls on a CO line making sure you pass the threshold timer. If you don't receive data using hyperterminal, verify your line cord is 6 pins and flipped. Also remember to cycle the power after programming the PIOU in Prog 03. When you are getting SMDR data then move the cable to the TTY port and test for SMDI.

BOBROBERT,
Thank you for the response. Will try it next time I am out there.
What do you mean by "6 pins and flipped"? Using 6 conductor RJ12 module. Currently wired as (holding RJ12 w/ tab away from me) pin 1 on the left, pin 6 on the right.
What is typical duration of the threshold timer?
Also, do I need null modem connector between DB9 and serial port on laptop?

6 pins and flipped = 6 conductor line cord with reversed mod plugs (not straight thru as a Cat 5e patch cord). The blue conductor of the line cord will be pin 1 on one mod plug and on pin 6 on the other.
The threshold timer can be either 1 sec or 10 sec (default value is 10 sec) and can be changed in Prog 60-2.
A null modem adaptor is not used.

BobRobert,
Thank you again.
Just for clarification, I have hard wired the DB9 to the RJ12. They are not separate (Six conductor cord does not have RJ12 on both ends). Pinouts are as listed above. When looking at the RJ12 with tab to the back pin1 is on the left. Correct?
I will check it and try it .....again... in a few days when I am out there. Thank you for your help.

The pinouts you listed above are for use with a PPTC-9 adaptor (DB-9F to 6 pin modular female jack) and a 6 conductor line cord. If you hardwire it straight thru, then use this pinout:
DB9-RJ
1 - 5 2 - 1 3 - 2 4 - 4 5 - 6 6 - 3

Alright. BobRobert-finally got data from the tty and smdr outputs. Had to repin connector with information you posted earlier.
Output from SMDR to hyperterminal is as expected. Output from SMDI/TTY to hyperterminal is: #T101231113613s#T101231113613s#T101231113613s$CNE 213 205 503^$CNE 213 205 503^$CNE 213 205 503^%II 503%II 503%II 503&T1012311 13643s&T101231113643s&T101231113643s
Given all information provided in earlier posts including Stratagy and Strata programming; calls to a station that is set as CF-BN go to VM but get main greeting only and not the individual greeting/custom greeting set for that extension.
Voicemail shows incoming call routed to 991. Data above shows ext. 213 calling 205 then going to port 503 on Stratagy after busy no answer. (Settings on hyperterminal may not be exactly right hence extra characters. Should not affect Stratagy, data is going through).
Any thoughts???

Yes, base port is set. Verified it twice. Program *32 has all ext. ports (000-015) pointed to first port on Stratagy 016. First port on Stratagy is programmed as 501. SMDI is enabled on Strata and Stratagy. Thinking it might have something to do with individual mailboxes programmed within Stratagy. But I can not figure out which setting is affecting it. Could it be that I do not have a DSS console programmed on the system? Therefore SMDI is not reading extension status correctly (busy, dnd, etc.)?
