Is there a difference between a Dk-40 and a Dk-40i as far as voice mail is concerned? In other words, what Toshiba voice mails would be compatible with either system?

What hardware considerations (circuit cards) need to be considered?

And is software level a consideration?

As far as voice mail is concerned - no. The difference between the DK40 and the DK40i is the capability of ISDN.

If you have an expansion cabinet installed, then consider an IVP8 Voice Mail with a K5RCU DTMF circuit receiver. Otherwise a Stratagy Flash will work with analog ports provided by a KSTU2 PCB along with a K5RCU.
