Hi all,

I have a problem with overhead. When idle, speakers are making a high-pitch noise (all speakers). It is coming from the phone system (when disconnected, the noise stops). Paging works fine, all the setting on the amp seem to be OK. Could this be a system - card problem? Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? Any help would be appreciated.

You said that the noise stops when disconnected - what are you disconnecting and where? What are you using for the page port? If you're using the BIOU for paging, what pair are you using for the input to the amp (Black/green or violet/slate)? Is the volume set high to overcome a lot of ambient noise? Are these speakers in an office environment, horns in a warehouse, or a combination of both? What output are you using on the amp?

Sorry about all the questions, but inquiring minds want to know.

The noise stops when I disconnect it from the apm. I am using a BIOU and black/gree to the apm. Volume is not set to high, these are in office environmnet. I have no idea what kind of output is on the amp... I believe this has been going on for a couple days now. Wondering if its the amp or the phone system that is giving me issues. Thanks.

try grounding everything. amp, ctx, outlets..

Especially ground the unused pairs in the wire going to the speakers...

If all fails I have two units that take a digital station port and turn it into a paging port. I like them better than a BIOU.

Those DKT paging adaptors work pretty good.
With your existing setup, grounding problems can give you a bit of a headache, although I would not expect a grounding loop from the BOU outputs. Here are my 2 ideas:

1- use one of the zone paging relays to keep the output disconnected while not paging. Take on of the output leads off and connect it to the Slate/black, then loop the Blk/slate to the open page lead. This relay if for Zone 1. When you page to zone 1 the relay should close and the page port connects to amp.

2- The Bogen WMT1A transformer has help to isolate problems in the past.
