I made the mistake of Googling for "incoming call volume" only to learn that it's a marketing phrase for the Toshiba Strata phones..

While it's great that the system can handle a high incoming call volume, I can't HEAR the incoming callers.

My current 'stratagy' is to pickup and answer really slowly as I madly fist the 'volume up' key on my handset.

Usually by the time the person replies to my 30 second long greeting, the volume is adequate for understanding what they are saying.

While this is 'semi-functional' I can forget about it and then we have the silly 'oh sorry please wait a sec' while I try to fix the volume and re-answer the phone. I also doubt my office mate appreciates the pounding on the volume key added to each answering disruption.

Any help would be appreciated. smile

Actually your phone type is DKT. Your system type is a CIX 100.

At first thought you were talking about the ringing, which you adjust while the phone is idle. But now I read it, sounds like you can not hear the caller on an incoming call.

Is it different between incoming calls and outgoing? Maybe that would indicate that the last line in the system sounds different then line 1. Could be a telco issue.

But as you state that you volume up so you can hear the caler, but it resets after every call, which is how it works.

To make it a permanant volume increase, you would have to open up the PAD table in emanager.

The PAD table in emanager looked like it was at defaults, so I applied the defaults after an export.

The volume is fine on outgoing calls, it's only when I answer, so I'll know soon enough..

The volume dropped while I was in VM (on speaker phone trying to decode a VM left by a client in a rush) so I just went into the VM and cranked the volume before leaving.. wink

Still quiet on incoming calls.. I can barely hear people until I hit the volume.

Where else can I look?

When you were in the PAD tables did you increase the value between the Sender "Analogue Line" and Receiver "DKT handset" ??

If you increased the value you just made it quieter as you increased the PAD value.
You should decrease the value to increase the volume.

Just be careful you don't increase the volume too much as it will increase the side tone as well and will increase the amount of echo on the line.

Neah I just loaded the defaults, didn't tweak anything.

The comment about echo 'sounds' about right as I've noticed I can't hear myself speak until I turn up the volume and then I can hear my voice echo as it would normally.

Not that I like the echo.. just that it's also a symptom of the volume drop. wink

Here's the table:

I don't have to fiddle with the volume when I answer on other telephones, only mine requires the rapid fisting answer method (tm). smile

Oh now I really feel like a client.

I switched from battery powered hands-free to a direct wire handset and volume is perfect.

My guess is that the batteries were low, the volume was cranked, and I somehow lost the volume setting. It's the only way I can explain why it works when I crank the volume up.
