Gentleman, thank you for your responses ahead of time. I work with JWRacedog. We just recently purchased a CIX 100 and we would like to be able to access this system remotely via e manager. Would someone be as so kind to let me know what ports that we would need to open on our router to make this happen. I have done a lot of research so far but have not been able to come across the necessary information. I have also spoken in great lengths with Phonemeister and he has provided me with a lot of assistance in the past.

Hey, I'm trying to do the same thing, we have a customer that is using Comcast Business Gateway (SMC8014) and I'm wondering if I could port forward it to the CIX, I'm not having any luck with it. We're also trying to set up three IP phones at remote locations, and I know that they can't be behind a firewall, so I'm wondering if I should use NAT and have the public IPs point 1-to-1 to the LIPU card and then just set up the remote login the same way, while I'm at it.

I always seem to have trouble with these comcast gateways, so if anyone has any info the configuration there, that would also be helpful. I set up the port forwarding, but when I check my open ports through a 3rd party website, they come up as closed.

You can port forward to the CIX, but you cannot 1-1 NAT to the LIPU. That has to be totally Outside the firewall. We usually plug the ISP into a small switch with one port to the LIPU and one to the firewall.

The Comcast modem acts as a firewall and router, so do I need to totally disable it and basically put it in bridge mode?

Here is an alternative. I bought a mini-pc [6"x6"x1"] with a USB/serial adapter & a USB/network adapter [in addition to the onboard NIC], loaded XP, Toshiba mgmnt software and GoToMyPC on it. Once in place, no keyboard, mouse, monitor or cd needs to be connected. Just mounts on the wall. The Intel Atom processor runs cool, quiet and reliably 24/7. Total cost < $400.

This gives me complete access to the PBX [VOIP on different private network] and the serial Voicemail from anywhere.

Since seeing and working with this setup, our Toshiba vender is deploying them to all of his locations.

Here is another alternative - use dialup?
Works pretty well and costs nothing unless you need to fit an AMDS card. I still use dialup for at least 100 sites.
