was installed and working perfectly

installed avast antivirus, was still working fine

today "website cannot be found" or whatever

ran NeM recovery

"incorrect user name or password. please try again"

uninstalled avast and e-manager then reinstalled e-manager

again "incorrect user name or password. please try again"

ran NeM again

still "incorrect user name or password. please try again"

XP pro platform acer extenza 4620z 3 gig memory ie8 sp3

yes I am sure of the default u/p aqusition but could someone please PM me it again just in case? i am scratching my head and about to start pulling out clumps!!! HELP!!!!!

This won't help you this time, but I've discovered that it's easy to use VMPlayer (freeware) to create an XP virtual partition, install everything I need to it, then save a backup.

Any problems can be virtually instantly fixed by deleting the problem virtual partition, and copying a new one from your backup.

If you have several technicians, this allows everyone to operate off of the same set of programs, manuals, etc.

Make sure that Internet Explorer is your default browser. Also try clearing the cache from IE.

reset all defaults in ie8

defraged the drive

ran a registry scan

reinstalled e-manager(again)

an ie8 window opens and closes real quick

ran NeM

restarted the machine

same thing

ran NeM again

same thing

do i really need to re-install xp?

it seems the more i try, the worse it gets! ugh!

Open up IE and make sure there isn't a browser helper like Google Bar. If there is, uninstall it. Turn off pop up blocker too. Do you still get to the screen where you enter the user name and password?

i was not getting to the sign-on screen. i am uninstalling as i type right now. after i reload e-manager i will check the pop-up blocker.

just to humor me, would you PM me the user/password. i know what it is but maybe i really dont? this is as frustrating as corrupt stratagy DK software!

and most of all, thank you for your help!

removed e-manager

ran disk cleanup

ran reg scan

turned off popup blocker

reinstalled e-manager(roughly the 6th time)

now i get to the login and back to square 1 incorrect u/p

well, sure enough i had the wrong username. at least my machine is completely cleaned up!

When you uninstalled the eManager software did you remove the SQL express and database when it prompted you to do?

The way I would fix it is to do the following:
1. remove eManager
2. choose option to delete database
3. remove SQL Server 2005
4. remove SQL Server Native Client
5. remove SQL Server Setup Support Files
6. remove SQL Server VSS Writer
7. delete Microsoft SQL Server folder in c:\program files
8. reboot PC
9. turn off or disable antivirus
10. re-install eManager software
11. check pop up blocker is turned OFF
12. make sure https://localhost is added to local intranet settings under IE tools/internet options/security settings.
