We have a CIX100 (v5.+) with a MIPU with a few IPT phones on it. We want to add some more IP phones. There is available ports on the MIPU, and I know we need the IP endpoint licenses for them. But I am not sure if we also need basic Port licenses for each IP phone. And do we need another Basic Port license for the VoiceMail (IPV8-R2) acct?

Thanks.....

The IPTs don't consume basic port licenses on an MIPU, but the IVP8 does.

Thanks. Curious as to what point a license is used on the IVP8. Is it when the box is setup in the voicemail? Is it when the VMID is specified in the extension config? Or some other trigger?

We have several mailboxes that were setup and not used. I wonder if deleting them will free up some lics.

All you need is IP end point lic., The IVP8 use's basic license's for each VM port. If you have a 4 port VM it uses 4 basic lic.

Mailboxes in the voicemail dont use any licenses. The voicmeail system consumes port licnses when initially set, base on the number of ports, as already described.

You would only need to add basic port license to the system if you are adding a non-IP extension or a CO trunk, and you get an error that you have exceded your port capacity.
