I have a customer with a CIX100, 30 IP5000 phones and 10 DKT2404's. The 2404's are stand alone extensions. All service tones and call waiting tones are disabled. When they are using a headset with the cordless phone, they periodically get 3 fast, quiet beeps and the mic cuts out. It can happen as frequently as every 30 seconds, or be spread out over a few hours. It happens with the phone in the charger, less than 60 feet from the base, as well as walking around. The beep is different than the out of range tone, or the low battery tone. It only happens with a headset, and it happens with the approved Toshiba GN headset as well as others. Software is 5.20 055. Happens on 2 ADKU cards. I shipped one of the phones to Toshiba engineers, and they could not re-create it on their CIX200. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Im not sure it has anything to do with your problem but could you swap out your ADKU with a BDKU, at least temporarily to see if that helps?

I've never heard of (or experienced) this problem, so I am curious if you ever got an update from Toshiba, or had any positive results swapping with a BDKU.

I swapped out the ADKU with a BDKU with no luck. Then I moved 2 of the base station to a different part of the building. Based on this, I am getting interference in the middle of the building, where all of the base station were originally located. With the two that I moved, they do not have the beep until they go to the center of the building (starting about 40 feet from the base station, and continuing till about 110 feet, then it clears up, but now goes out of range...) Waiting to hear back from the engineers again...Tried a couple of analog off-the-shelf Panasonic DECT cordless, and they work fine. Can't figure out what could cause the interference... Anyone think it might be worth buying a SIP DECT to try instead of the 2404's?

Wow... sounds like interference for sure, but hard to tell from where, when the SLT cordless work fine. Maybe there is interference close to the system. Have you tried ferrite on all the stub cables and grounded the system properly?

What other digital equipment is around that area?

I had terrible problems with a Samsung set and accidentally hit the off switch on a Belkin surge suppressor that was a hundred feet from the ksu and the station worked fine. Who knew?

As soon as the Belkin turned on the station screwed up and this was a one pair digital station not plugged into the Belkin in any way.

You might go around turning off everything in sight and see if the beeping stops.

Thanks, I will double check the ground and ferrite tomorrow when I go back there. Unfortunately I cannot turn off everything around it as two of the office spaces belong to other companies...I don't think they would be happy with me turning off their equipment...

Check the headset battery. Plantronics headsets have 3 muted tones in the ear when the battery is dieing. Maybe the GN's do the same.

No batteries in headsets, as these are wired to the cordless phones.

Ended up on the phone with the Toshiba engineers in Japan. They had me put the phones in a field test mode to see errors and signal strength. The 3 beeps was the out of range alarm, which was happening even within 10 feet of the base station. They had me disable the out of range notification on the phones, and the problem stopped. Their determination is interference was triggering the out of range notification, even though it was well within range.

We have tested for a week and the customer is happy with performance now. No dropped calls or clipping/cutting out etc...

Thanks!
