hi,
we've got a CIX200 and the accompanying MAS server. by default, there is a task (viewable in eManager, under 'Strategy ES'->'VM System'->'VM Scheduler' called OSShutdown. this runs once a week at 5am and reboots the system.
we've a couple times had the system either hang, and not completely reboot, or had an issue with services on startup, both of which lead to an outage in our call center.
it says in the manual (CIX-MA-PRGM2-VA1.pdf) that: 'In order to maintain the validity of both Windows XP and voice mail data, a periodic soft
boot of the system is required. For that reason the OSShutdown routine cannot be deleted
from the Scheduler’s list of Scheduled Actions. If desired, the timetable for this action can
be extended to a date and time in the future.'
i want to delete this task and simply reboot by hand, supervised, on patch tuesday.
should this be okay (1 month in between reboots) or will bugs lurking in XP/toshiba software cause a meltdown before then?
i really dislike getting calls early tuesday morning when this happens.
thanks,
-matt
