I understand completely now. They way vodavi makes it sound, one would think that this is an extra extension. Only two analog ports , that seems like a well thought out idea(not)! Considering this is 24x48 system. What do you do when you need more than 2 analog ext's through the system? I've never thought much of vodavi ,and I don't think I'm interested in the sts line! The only thing I did like was the headset jack. The ADP port was a total let down! Only one phone to choose!! not for me

While Im not too impressed with the STS line either....the bottom line is that it is a reliable system and VODAVI has been around a long time (put in tons of those old flat black starpluses)...the phone is not too bad looking.... LETS FACE IT....thr phone is under a hundred bucks new....a 4x8 ksu for about 300 hundred bucks....thats the bottom line us interconnects look at... While it aint no Norstar or Toshiba the end-user mostly uses speakerphones, conference calls and speed dialing and this system fits all those requirements.... IM STILL IN LOVE WITH THE NEC DS1000/2000... www.GetwiredByMitch.com

clgr- You can get a 4-port analog card for 169 dealer cost.
I installed an STS system in our office about 2 months ago to replace our dying DHS. I am completly happy with the system. The programming is more intense and not quite as easy as the DHS.
The voice mail is ok for the price. No where as nice as the Dispatch.

We have a problem with windows program tool. Can download pgm via modem but can't up load via modem. Hyper terminal works ok. This system has a great feature set once you learn it. Has real call coverage that Panasonic does not, it's real strong in the recording area and conferencing, four outside line conf, you can conf 3 and still record. The in skin vm is ok, no trunking but can be split up for dif companies. Call fwd to co could use a remote option but what the hey, its cheap. No its not a Norstar but you don't have to drive into the office to change the greeting.

brokeda, STS programming software is still in Beta mode. I have been using hyperterminal myself. Vodavi says in Jan or Feb 2004 we should see some improvements.

To use the "analog" port under the STS phone you have to wire the jack for 2 pairs. Then run your analog signal, whatever is maybe, across the W/O pair. It's nothing that is built in, you have to wire it.
Secondly, the in-skin is hit or miss. I have one customer that we have replaced it 3 times and had to do software upgrades 4 times. Yet I have others that I have never had a call back on. I personally think it sucks.

were on our 7 th unit w / inskin. Only had problem w 1 vm: memory block problem locked it up, called ts, they walked me through Debug to rebuild memory block in 5 min. Havent had a customer who didnt love it. The software is robust, much like the larger systems.
