Has any one compared these 2 systems in the field? Any Pros or Cons to either?

I wouldn't say that. For the money you cannot do any better than the STS.

I wouldn't say that either. The nec ds1000/2000 is very comparable in price and from what i've seen much more reliable than the sts. ------------------ | Telephone Systems | Voice & Data Cabling

i gotta redefine.
The NEC is of better quality.
I have had quality issues with the STS, and Vodavi tech support doesnt seem to knowledgeable.
The NEC DS systems are much more reliable and easier to learn. Their Voice Mail is great.

The STS is a sweet little system....plus you can't beat the 5-year warranty. We've been installing them for two years now and have had almost zero hardware problems. There have been a few sofware bugs that have pretty much been worked out by Vodavi but I've never seen a new system come to market without a few bugs here or there. Buy it or sell it....you can't go wrong!

What reliability issues? To date, I have not had any hardware problems with the STS KSU. One complaint - the STS 24-btn phone's hookswitch. It has a rather weak hinge and I have had a couple customers break it. I usually sell the XTS phones with the STS 'Gold' KSU. The XTS phones, besides looking nicer, seem to be more durable.

of the dozen or so systems, I found the quality of those handsets could use improvement.
Nut overall, when compared to other systems (NEC DS1000/2000) it lacks in hi-end features.
And also Vodavi's tech support could use a few people who speak better english...
And I dont like the fact that a lot of their voice mails experienced quality issues.
