Anyone else have trouble with the STS modem card? I have installed a MODU in each STS sold, and each one has had the same trouble. I connect to it, but immediately after I receive from the far end ATZ ATE0V0 and then the MODU drops the connection. Thinking I had a bad MODU I replaced it only to have the same trouble. I have tried 3 different PCs and several different modems, Procomm, HyperTerminal. Resetting the KSU repeatedly seems to fix the problem because eventually it will work and then works perfectly ever after. This problem has occured with each STS I've put in and I've done a few dozen. I had a Vodavi tech try it and he had the same trouble so they sent me a replacement MODU and it didn't work until several KSU resets later.

I've run into this problem before, sounds like you need to upgrade the software on those systems. I'm not sure the exact sw version that has this problem but I know that it is an earlier version. Call Vodavi they will send you new software. It has something to do with the system modem taking too long to answer.

I've ran into this problem only once out a a few dozen systems i have out there but it ended up being hyperterminal timing out to fast. The modem will not answer i believe for 25 seconds. But the other factor that i have is all my systems are running V1.02 or higher in them.

Thanks for the input guys. All these systems are 1.02. Its not a timeout issue as far as I can tell. The modems connect ok, but I get nothing or ATZ ATE0V0 from STS then the STS modem disconnects.

Today I had a Vodavi tech try the modu in my in-house system. He experienced the same problem I have been having with all my sts. I am sending my modu to him for a 'closer look'. I'll let you all know what they say.

I received my replacement modu from Vodavi and it works perfectly. I am starting to suspect there is a batch of defective modems out there. I have purchased all from Target Distibuting.

I do not blame Target. They are easily the best supply house I have ever done business with. My guess, like yours, is that a bunch of bad ones ended up there.
