Has anyone had any problems with volume on the STS door boxes?

I have two installed at a site. When I press the door box button, the person answering the phone can hear me just fine, but I can hardly hear them. The volume slide is turned all the way up.

The really weird thing is: when a station direct dials the door box, it sounds great! It only sucks when you try to call from the door box to a station.

Here is what I have tried so far:

-have changed ports – no luck
have replace the boxes with new boxes – no luck
-have turned up the volume in WinDBA – no luck
-have plugged in a digital phone on the port and turned up the volume – no luck

Tech support says they can not replicated the problem.

Any thoughts???

or through a intercom line????????

It is the STS brand door box. It connects to a digital port on the STS.

The reception phone has a call coverage key of the ext that the door box is on. When you press the door box button, the reception phone does a call coverage ring.

We tested it today and got the same thing.

It sounds like the doorbox is picking up background noise, kinda like the digital stations do in handsfree mode when in a noisy area, not true full duplex. Also if your switch can use the infinite model of phones hook up a 30 button full duplex phone and see what u get.

We do not have access to Infinite sets.

Looks like I am going to sell my customer some Viking units.

Live and learn....I won't be selling the door boxes again.

I don't know if you recieved your answer to this question (I new to this service), flash 10 - button 10 - disable idle speaker mode for the door station.

I think Bneck meant to say flash 50, not flash 10 for the digital station port that the box is connected to.

We haven't sold any of these boxes, all we use is Viking because of the flexibility using CO line programming and overall product quality. The Vodavi door boxes just don't seem to be high-enough quality for an outdoor environment, even if sheltered. The old analog ones yellowed so badly, and the new digital ones look exactly the same.
