I have a station, ext 114, that has a regular old analog one line phone on it. when i pick it up it has the intercom tone, and dialing 9 takes it to an outside line.

I removed it from the box that converts the digital signal to an analog signal, and now whewn I plug the digital phone into it, the phone goes berzerk, and all the lights flash, light up, and the speaker screams out static.

but it DOES show the version of the software on the phone. i just can't use the phone.

is there something else i'm missing? I have a feeling it has something to do with the power that is going over the system.

thanks in advance!

You might want to check the station lock feature again; make sure it's turned OFF before you connect the phone. It sounds like the system thinks there's still a single-line adapter connected instead of a phone.

How come there's always enough time to go back and fix it a second time?

Ed,

I am pretty sure station lock is still disabled. I didn't re-enable it. but I will check it again tonight to make sure station lock is disabled.

If it is still disabled, what should my next step be?

I think if it still does not work after station lock is checked, I will try plugging it in directly after the stations come out of the KSU.

Ed,

Great news! Everything is working beautifully now. to make a real long story short, the problem with the last phone was something to do with what I'll call a "terminating block". It's a punchdown block that has some plugs on it for "DC Breakdown Range" towers. I ended up taking that block out of play entirely at the extension where I needed the last phone. As soon as that block was out, and I punched the lines down on the normal punch down block everything worked.

Station lock is re-activated also.

Thanks for all your help!
