Just bought the above and need to know the following:

1. Does this unit come standard for 16 phones or does it need expansion to get there?
2. What door intercom/opener will work with this unit (preferably for 2 doors)?
3. What would be an inexpensive answering machine to hook up to this system?
4. Is this a decent home system or should I just trash it and get somethiong newer?

Thanks,

Bob Murray

Bob:
Please fill out your profile so that the techs know who they're talking to, and your location.

1. Yes 616Flex--6 lines/16 phones

2. Viking Electronics has Door Units

3. ATT & others have them in stores for $20

4. This is an older business system that could work in a home but there are other systems out there (Partner, Panasonic) that adapt to a home environment better. On the Vodavi, you must buy analog adapters to support any s/l applications. Also, if you purchased this with no manuals--programming and installation will be a problem. Are you a phone installer/tech? or are you an end user?

Good Luck

It is a cute little system, especially if you can find any green or burgundy phones [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]
The SLA adapters are getting harder to find. You would need an SLA to hook up an answerring machine.
It is not an incredibly complex system to program or install, unless you have no experience working with phone systems, then you will have trouble.
Realize that it is extremely outdated. It is not caller ID capable. Any voice mail would have to go through S/L ports, etc...

Yep, got 4 burgundy and 4 green phones plus ksu for $150. That's why I'm willing to trashcan it if it won't do the job. CID and mesaaging are secondary to me anyway, I can get that by wiring lines before the ksu. Doorphone adapter and, preferably, door openers are quite important though. Will a viking c-1000 interface with this system and ring all phones? BTW, does it do paging by zones?

Yes, you can program the c-1000 to ring on all of the phones. It simply connects to a unused CO port.

If memory serves, you can set up zone paging.

Good luck!
