I have a customer who has a Vodavi Triad S phone system, and he just purchased 5 used Triad XTS 3017 30 button phones for it. He wanted more buttons than his 24's...

So he called me and told me he had some new phones, so I went to hook them up and the system does not recognize them. Only the display came up and the system does not recognize them. It did not auto-assign (station lock is turned OFF)and obviously there is no setting for a 30 button phone because when this system was new 24s were all that was available.

So my question is: Will a software upgrade allow these phones to function with the Triad S, or should I have him send them back and get some more 24's?

Thanks for the help, you guys always bail me out when needed!!

4.16 was the last software version for the Triad systems, but you should be able to get them to work with any version above feature package 3. Since it's really only the fact that it's a 30 button phone that needs to be recognized, they will come up. What goes on inside the phone isn't important to the KSU. I have them working on a Triad with 4.12 software and haven't had any trouble.

This is what customers get for buing phones on e-bay. Same thing happened to me recently with a few customers doing the same thing.

You might want to turn off station lock, if it's turned on.

You must have at least 4.12 or above software for the new 30 button phones to work.
