Help, I am new to the Vodavi Products. I am trying to program this KSU for Caller ID. I have everything connected but I get the error tone when I try doing the Flash 56 programming. I know on the IDS you need to be at a certain Software Level or a download from Executone to enable CID. Is this the same with the Vodavi product? Software on this KSU is 2.0N-04. 1428 KSU.

You are correct, there are limitations with features based upon software levels. Are you sure that you are working with a 1428 KSU? The 612 KSU was identical in appearance but lacked expansion capabilities among other things. As far as I recall, the 1428 always supported caller ID, even back as far as feature package 1.
I know of systems we still have out there using 2.3L software with caller ID, but they are infinite systems, not Starplus. Although still Vodavi products, infinite dealers were afforded access to more standard features than the Starplus products offered.
I will ask around tomorrow and see if I can get you a more definitive answer.

Thanks for the replies. I did not notice if it has the Expansion connectors on the KSU or not. The software chips say 1428 version 2.0N-04 on them. Like I said I am new to this Vodavi product so it may be a 612 with 1428 software on it. Is that possible?
That is correct, I can not access Flash 56 at all. It gives me the error beeps.

You definitely have a version of software that does not support caller ID. It will need to be upgraded to gain this function. In addition, you will need to check the white label on the KSU cover with the "IRS" level. This must be at least level "S" or higher for it to take the upgrade. If you have the proper IRS level, I have the software available for it if you would like to purchase it.

Thanks Ed. Sounds a lot like the IDS 42. Looks a lot like it too. I'll ask what they want to do about the upgrade.

Help! This is my fist post...I have a similiar situation. I am trying to install a Vodavi CID-9 on a Triad S or Triad 5000-00. I checked "Flash 15" = port 1 9600. Now on "Flash 56" I cannot make any changes to the programming. ICLID=NO NAME=YES PORT=1 BAUD=9600. I am assuming that I need to change "ICLID" to "YES" in order to enable caller ID. Is this correct? How do I enable it? How do I tell if my software version is limited and is the root of the problem? One last question...How many serial cables is used? I currently have one from the out port on the CID going to port 1 on the MISC card on the bottom of the switch. Thanks for any help!

Once you turn ICLID on via flash 56, you lose the programming functionality of com port #1. You should move ICLID to com port #3 (the second one) so that you retain the ability to program via com #1. Of course, you can always just do your programming via a phone connected to station port #100 instead.
There's only one serial cable needed between the unit and the KSU. All software versions of the Triad support caller ID.

O.K. But how do I turn ICLID on? And how do I move it to port 3?

It's all under the parameters in flash 56. Unfortunately, that's about as far as we can go with support since this board's policy is to only offer user's guide-level support. You may be able to communicate more detailed information via PM, however there may be a fee from the provider of such support.
