Hello and welcome to the board. Do you have a modem unit (MODU) installed in the system or are you trying to connect through a modem on one of the com ports?

You'll need to configure HyperTerminal for 9600 Baud, 8 Data Bits, No Parity and 1 Stop Bit.
When you first setup the HyperTerminal session, press the "Configure" button and select the box next to "Operator Assisted Manual Dial."
To start the connection process, press the phone symbol at the top of the page. When the "Connect" screen comes up, press "Dial." A message will come up that tells you to pick up the handset and dial.
From your phone, dial the phone number and wait for the AA or receptionist to answer. Once you are transfered to 499 or 498, press the "OK" button and hang up your phone.
Of course, I'm assuming you have the MODU in the KSU as Bobby mentioned.
Good luck and Welcome to the board!!
