I have a Vodavi Voice Mail DHD-04 P/N 303-04 attached to an Infinite DVX Plus phone system.
I have subscriptions to telemanual.com, as well as a few others, but I cannot find the exact manual for the voice mail system.
After a power down, the greeting that was answering the lines changed to a generic one.
I need to know how to get the correct recording to answer again.
If you dial the stations (440 ext's 112-115) you hear the correct recording, but when the auto attendant answers, it is a generic one.
Seems something in the voice mail auto attendant routing went haywire.

The manual you need is for the Talkpath or Dispatch voice mail. More than likely, your unit is older and requires four AA batteries for time retention. Upon power down, the time reverts to midnight and the year is 1982. The ports are probably set to run on a time control (auto day night schedule) and the system thinks it is night time.

Thanks,
I downloaded both manuals and will be making the changes on Monday.
I really appreciate the help.
This is a new system that we are supporting.
It seems that a number of local companies are going out of business, so we are picking up a lot of systems that we haven't worked on much in the past.
Anyway, THANKS!!!

To correct Ed it is 8 AA batteries and the date defaults to 01/01/80 at 12:00AM, BUT you have a 486 digital VM and the AA batteries were replaced by a internal battery that does go bad and need to be replaced. It is just one of those flat watch type batteries that can be purchased at any Walgreens or CVS type stores. It is a pain to get to, to replace because you have to remove the Voice Port card in the VM to get to the battery.

Okay...
I tried getting into the VM using the instructions in both manuals, and couldn't.
Here's what I did.
1.) Dialed into both the ports directly (112-115, and into the group (440)
2.) During the greeting and after the greeting, pressed 7 per the instructions.
The system wouldn't go any further.
Any ideas???
Thanks ahead of time.
Also, the instructions ask for a mailbox number.
I assume the greeting has a mailbox number, but I don't have a clue as to what it is.
If there's a support guy that I can call and pay for support, let me know.
The customer is getting frustrated, and so am I during my "learning curve".
I took over this system, and this is my first time programming a Vodavi.
The previous vendor bagged it... so to speak.

7 + the mailbox number changes the port from auto attendant to voice mail service. That's not what I think you want.
I take it that you are wanting to re-record the main greeting, correct?
If so, dial one of the voice mail ports and then press 8 when it answers. You should be prompted for the menu password, which is in your manual.
From that point, just follow the directions.

Sorry I am not being to clear.
No, I do not want to re-record the greeting.
The greeting that I want is already recorded, but after a power out, the system reverted to playing the "generic" greeting rather than the one that was playing PRIOR to the outage.
Currently, if you dial the VM group directly from an extention in the office, the right recording is still there. (Hello, you've reached blah, blah, blah)
When you dial into the main number from an outside line, a generic system recording plays instead of the one that used to play and is still in the system.
I just need to get the old greeting back as the one that plays when an outside caller calls the main number.

You can just reset the time & date via any mailbox using the administrator password. Perhaps that is where you got the info about pressing 7. You select 7 once you are inside a mailbox. Otherwise, if you have the Vodavi Admin software you can set the time & data using a laptop.

This doesn't sound like a TC problem to me. If it were it would not answer with the custom greeting when dialing 450 from inside or out. Sounds to me like the outside line group is not ringing to the proper voice mail group but maybe to a phone that is forwarded to a different menu. Could the phone system be in special mode?
Heres another question, how many rings when a call comes in before the auto attendant picks up? Maybe the generic greeting you are hearing isn't the in house VM at all but a telco greeting because the ring NA timing is off since the power failure? You would be surprised by how many people still have vm from their dial tone providers and don't even know it.
Lastly it may be a flash 67 issue if the lines are preset forwarded to voice mail. Either disable option (button) 1 or change the lines to ring to 450 not 440, however it depends on just what this generic greeing is saying.
