The single digit for dial by name (by default) is 4, however this can be changed or disabled in the "PBX Integration" screen via laptop. There is no other way to interface with the voice mail otherwise other than basic touch tone commands for greetings, etc.

Well I've definitely gotten further with the laptop. All the dial by name data is in for the VM. Had it working last night. However today after entering the rest of the info pressing 4 when calling in now gives me "too few digits"..as in its looking for 2 more digits to transfer to an extension. Is there something I'm supposed to have in the CCR menu that directs to the "dial by name" extension/greeting? Also on my system greeting it has my recorded greeting plus the systems default of "if you know your party..., if you have VM on this system... press 4 to dial by name". How can i get rid of the systems default options and keep my own?

Ok I figured out the system default prompts. Just record silence over them. But I still need an answer on the 'pressing 4' saying too few digits.

You need to deny first digit permissions for the digit 4 in the auto attendant programming screen. It is assuming that you are trying to dial an extension number beginning with 4.
