Do any of you guys have the part number for the Caller ID box that could be interaced with the TRIADs system? Do you remember how many lines each unit picked up? Thanks for any information.

1480-00 was the original unit that supported eight lines.

7480-00 was the new unit that supported nine lines.

Both are manufacturer discontinued, so used/refurbished is going to be your best bet.

We have the Vodavi Triad Starplus and just got Caller ID through Verizon. I am able to do the Flash 56 and set the number and name to "yes"...but I think I am missing some software for the system. Is that correct? Is it all obsolete? Where can I purchase the software or can I tell if it is already installed? We have owned and been using the system for quite a few years, but have never had Caller ID on it before. I appreciate any help.

Shirl, Welcome to the board. You will need one of the caller ID units referenced in the above post.

In the future you should start a new thread rather then tacking on to an existing one, but this is so close to the original question it's ok.

Shirl:

You'll need one of the caller ID interface units indicated above. In addition, with the Triad-S you will need to see if your KSU has the optional serial port card installed in the bottom slot. If it is not present, you'll need one of those too.

After you have these, you'll need to make sure that the baud rate of the CID unit matches the baud rate of the serial port you are using. Lastly, you'll need to program that port to provide CID service under flash 56.

Since this system has not been manufactured in many years, you'll likely only find these items used or refurbished. Check at the top of this page to see if Sundance (our host) has them available.

I am installing one today on an S and having a bit of trouble to get it to work. Programming is correct but nothing coming out of the 7480 and showing on the phone displays. I hope it isn't a bad unit.

Even though they said that this wasn't necessary with the 7480 units, I'm pretty sure that if pins 7 & 8 need to be shorted in order for CID data to be output.

I never tried to use the supplied ribbon cable with the 7480 for this reason. I just made my own cable and placed a jumper on 7/8 at the CID unit end.

Wow, thanks for all of the information. Seems like this phone system is pretty complicated, but I will keep trying to get the Caller ID functional. Much appreciated!!

I have used the supplied cable before with XTSs. I would think that the S works the same way. Also according to the 7480 manual, pins 7 and 8 are shorted internally in the CID.

Derrick

Do a flash 80 button 8 hold and then reset the power on both the 7480 and the KSU. also verify your baud rate is correct. On the 7480 if the outer 2 switches are pulled up and away from the circuit board and the center one is down that is 2400 all switches pulled up and away from circuit board is 9600 ribbon cable should not be a problem at all.
