So I have setup an off-net forward by doing a speed bin on the 3rd line to a cell phone the company receives an after hours call. My problem is that when the call comes in on line 1 or 2 then forwards after the parties hang up both of the co lines on the switch do not hang up. any input or a better way to do this?

If the CO is not sending the disconnect signal, you will have to set the conference/disconnect timer.

Yes, this timer will limit the duration of the off-net call with a one-minute warning tone prior to disconnect. The better solution is to have this problem corrected by the dial tone provider because this situation will also affect the operation of the voice mail.

i just placed a call to it and hung up with the lines tied up and pulled the clips off of line 1 which the call came in on and the switch released both lines, so is the switch not recognizing the hang up or is it on verizons end?

Did you wait for the timer to expire?

The signal you need from your provider goes by several different names. Loop Supervision, Disconnect supervision, etc.

A search on disconnect supervision found this method of testing for it posted by justbill:
Quote: " If you have a toner with a continuity check on it, or a volt ohm meter just look for disconnect supervision at the demarc. Put the voltmeter or toner on the line, place a call, hang up. Very quickly the voltmeter should drop to zero than return to around 48 volts. The lamp on the toner should go out than back on. If this doesn't happen the CO is not returning disconnect supervision. Now this is on plain old pots lines. If you are using some type of IP based lines (cable) they probably don't even know what line supervision is. " - justbill
